  • Publication number: 20130231020
Abstract: Disclosed are aqueous dispersions of fluoropolymer comprising from 45 to 70 weight % of non-melt-processible polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) particles, and based on the weight of the PTFE particles, from 1 to 15 weight % of nonionic surfactants, and 1-10 weight % of a water soluble alkaline earth metal salt, or 0.1-10 weight % of a colloidal silica. Also disclosed are compositions comprising the aqueous PTFE dispersions of this invention and their uses for coating applications with improved critical cracking thickness.

  • Patent number: 7745355
Abstract: Aspects of the invention are found in a heating component having a composite material coated on a support. The composite material includes a fluorinated or silicone polymer and inductively-heatable particles. Additional aspects of the invention are found in a heating belt having a flexible support coated with a composite material. The composite material includes a polymer material and inductively-heatable particles. Further aspects of the invention are found in a system for heating an article. The system includes a heating belt and a field generator. The heating belt includes a flexible support coated in a composite material. The composite material includes a polymeric matrix and inductively-heatable particles. The field generator induces a field about the heating belt. The inductively-heatable particles heat in the presence of the field.

  • Publication number: 20070207273
Abstract: A process for making a fluoropolymer coated substrate comprising: applying an aqueous fluoropolymer dispersion coating composition comprising an aqueous medium and fluoropolymer particles with a fluorosurfactant content of less than about 300 ppm to a substrate to form a wet coating on the substrate, the aqueous fluoropolymer coating composition comprising added water soluble salt; and drying the wet coating to form the fluoropolymer coated substrate by applying high frequency electromagnetic radiation to the wet coating, the added water soluble salt being effective to decrease the time required to dry the wet coating on the substrate by at least about 5% compared to an otherwise identical coating composition without the added water soluble salt.
