  • Patent number: 6281180
Abstract: An automatic dishwashing detergent composition is described which contains an effective amount of a defined water soluble cationic or amphoteric polymer and a phosphate or nonphosphate builder. The polymers are soluble or dispersible to at least 0.01% by weight in distilled water at 25° C. A method of using the polymers to prevent fading or corrosion of dishware is also described.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 15, 1999
Date of Patent: August 28, 2001
Assignee: Lever Brothers Company, division of Conopco, Inc.
Inventors: Alla Tartakovsky, Joseph Oreste Carnali, Richard Gerald Gary

  • Patent number: 5783539
Abstract: A composition and method for inhibiting lead corrosion of fine tableware washed in automatic dishwashers is disclosed. The detergent composition comprises an aluminum-sequestrant complex formed by binding the aluminum by a sequestrant in a premix, which is then processed with other detergent components. The composition has a pH of less than about 10 and is substantially free of silicates.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 16, 1997
Date of Patent: July 21, 1998
    Assignee: Lever Brothers Company
Inventors: Petrus Andrianus Angevaare, Richard Gerald Gary
  • Patent number: 5731277
Abstract: A composition and method for inhibiting the extraction of transition metals from tableware washed in automatic dishwashers is described. The composition contains an aluminum species in which substantially all of the aluminum (III) ions are present as aluminum tetrahydroxide. A bleaching agent, a builder and optionally a surfactant and a silicate are present. The composition has a pH of less than about 10. A process for preparing the composition is also described.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 21, 1996
Date of Patent: March 24, 1998
Assignee: Lever Brothers Company, Division of Conopco, Inc.

  • Patent number: 5698506
Abstract: A composition and method for inhibiting lead corrosion of fine tableware washed in automatic dishwashers is disclosed. The composition comprises an aluminum salt which dissolves at a rate to deliver less than 0.56 mM aluminum(III) per minute at 42.degree. C. to a wash liquor, a bleaching agent, a builder and optionally a surfactant. The composition has a pH of less than about 10 and is substantially free of silicates.
