  • Publication number: 20150288645
Abstract: Social media messages associated with a news story item are scheduled to be published at a time relative to an expected air time of the news story in a news rundown. When the time to air of the news story item is changed, the time for publishing the social media message is changed automatically according to the updated news rundown, maintaining the relative timing. This helps news organizations manage the timing of social media messages that are related to broadcast stories, without the need to monitor a changing rundown. When social media messages published in advance of a news item broadcast engender high interest, newsroom producers may react by promoting the news item within the rundown and publishing additional teaser messages. Conversely, low reaction levels may lead to the demotion of a story, or even its elimination from the rundown.

  • Patent number: 8561151
Abstract: A mobile entitlements manager implemented on a mobile device stores the software entitlements belonging to a user of the mobile device. The mobile device communicates with client computers on which the user wishes to run software applications. Messages are exchanged between the client and the mobile device to enable activation, continued running, and to deactivate client applications in accordance with the entitlements available to the user. The mobile entitlements manager updates its entitlement information by communicating with a remote entitlements server, and informs the entitlement server of the status of programs running on clients in communication with the device. The entitlements manager handles entitlements for multiple applications and for multiple licensed entities, such as individual users, sites, client computers, or organizations.

  • Publication number: 20120233646
Abstract: The experience of a consumer of a primary video or audio program is enriched by providing secondary and time relevant content to a secondary device, such as a laptop computer, tablet, or smart phone. Transmissions of the primary video or audio are augmented by secondary data providing links to the secondary content. The secondary data also contains data identifying the corresponding primary program and the temporal location within the primary program at which the secondary content is to be offered. Upon receipt and display of a pre-produced primary program, a device driving the primary program output device, such as a set-top-box driving a television, transmits the secondary data over a local network to the secondary device, which displays links to the secondary data, and enables the consumer to request the corresponding secondary content for display on the secondary device.
