  • Patent number: 6670021
Abstract: 12A high temperature gas turbine component includes an inner core made of a monolithic ceramic material embedded within an outer CMC shell. The inner core may be formed with a through hole, blind hole, wear pads and the like. A method of making the bushing includes the steps of a) forming an inner core of silicon nitride or silicon carbide; and b) applying a ceramic matrix composite material over substantially all of the inner core.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 14, 2001
Date of Patent: December 30, 2003
    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: Mark Stewart Schroder, Paul Stephen DiMascio, Randall Richard Good

  • Patent number: 6358002
Abstract: An air seal is illustrated as used in a gas turbine engine. The seal includes at least a seal substrate, a relatively dense, erosion resistant ceramic layer applied over the bond coat, and an abradable ceramic layer applied in a local area over the dense ceramic layer. The abradable ceramic interacts with a component moving relative to the seal, such as a turbine blade that moves relative to the seal, and cooperates with the moving component to provide sealing and thermal insulation.

  • Patent number: 5881432
Abstract: A new handle for shopping bags for supporting and retaining shopping bag handles, particularly those found on plastic bags. The inventive device includes an elongate, oval shaped member having a pair of opposite ends, a pair of opposite side edges, and a flexible central portion. A cut-out is formed adjacent each end so as to form a handle portion located at each end. The elongate member is bent about the flexible central portion into a U-shape, and the bag handles are disposed a within the interior of the U-shaped member and supported upon the central portion. The handle portions are then secured together by a snap mechanism so as to form a single carrying handle.
