  • Publication number: 20240050655
Abstract: A system and method is provided for detecting fluid low-volume and occlusion in a device using force sensing resistor (FSR) sensor. One or more force sensing resistors are positioned in communication with a fluid channel at one or more of a pump intake and pump outlet to detect pressure in the fluid channel. The pressure is detected through communication with the force sensing resistor and indicates an irregular system condition including but not limited to, fluid low-volume level and occlusion. Also provided are a fluid flow sensor (e.g., FSR or MEMS sensor) disposed relative to an embedded fluid channel in the base of a wearable medicine delivery pump.

Abstract: A delivery device for delivering medicament, such as insulin, to a patient includes a housing and a base enclosing an inner cavity. Enclosed within the housing is a reservoir for containing a medicament, a delivery mechanism for delivering the medicament to the patient, and a pump in fluid communication with the reservoir and delivery mechanism. The base has an integrally formed fluid channel covered by a flexible membrane in fluid communication with the reservoir and the delivery mechanism. • Publication number: 20230364330
Abstract: A medical device for infusing medical substances has activation buttons accessible on the exterior of the device housing. Activation buttons and corresponding electrical switches within the housing are configured to prevent inadvertent activation of the buttons and therefore inadvertent operation of the switches to initiate a process such as medical substance delivery to the user. The device employs overlap of respective time traces initiated by activation of the activation buttons to determine whether activation is intended and valid. These time traces do not have to be initiated simultaneously or in any particular sequence. The activation buttons can be elastomeric overmolded buttons set within cutouts in the housing, and, when depressed, make physical contact with respective switches.

  • Publication number: 20230321341
Abstract: A pump for the pumping small volumes of medical fluid is provided. The pump has a manifold chamber having an inlet port and an outlet port. Within the manifold chamber, a cannula having input and output holes oriented with respect to the inlet and outlet ports is rotated within the manifold chamber, and translated axially in a reciprocating manner. The input opening of the cannula overlaps with the inlet port as the manifold chamber volume is increasing to draw fluid into the manifold chamber from the input port. The output opening of the cannula chamber overlaps with the output port as the manifold chamber volume is decreasing to force fluid out of the manifold chamber to the outlet port. The cannula may be formed from metal needle stock.
