  • Patent number: 6150113
Abstract: The invention is an improved immunoassay and method for detection of antibody to hepatitis B core antigen (anti-HBc). The improved assay comprises the addition of a reducing agent to decrease the number of false positive reactions in the assay.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 9, 1996
Date of Patent: November 21, 2000
    Assignee: Abbott Laboratories
Inventors: Richard H. Decker, John A. Weare
  • Patent number: 5925512
Abstract: Mutant Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) nucleic acid sequences useful for a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic applications, kits for using the HBV nucleic acid sequences, HBV immunogenic particles, and a method for producing antibodies to HBV. Also provided are methods for producing antibodies, polyclonal or monoclonal, from the HBV nucleic acid sequences.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 23, 1995
Date of Patent: July 20, 1999
    Assignee: Abbott Laboratories
Inventors: William F. Carman, Richard H. Decker, Lesley Wallace, Larry T. Mimms, Larry R. Solomon
  • Patent number: 5895750
Abstract: A biotin-antibiotin immunoassay comprises coating a solid phase with a ligand-specific binding material, reacting the solid phase with a test sample, reacting the solid phase with the biotin-labeled form of the ligand-specific binding material and antibiotin labeled with a suitable marker. The marker is then measured to detect the amount of ligand present in the test sample.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 3, 1995
Date of Patent: April 20, 1999
    Assignee: Abbott Laboratories
Inventors: Isa K. Mushahwar, Richard H. Decker, Karen V. Stuckmann

  • Patent number: 4273756
Abstract: The present invention encompasses a method for determining a class specific antibody to an antigen comprising:(a) binding an antibody for a specific immunoglobulin class to a solid support to form a class specific antibody reagent;(b) reacting the class specific antibody reagent with test sample;(c) removing unbound test sample to provide an antigen reagent, and(d) reacting the antigen reagent with a known antigen and measuring the amount of bound antigen thereby determining the amount of class specific antibody to that antigen. The present invention is useful for differential diagnosis, since the relative amount of class specific antibodies varies with the progress of infection.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 28, 1978
Date of Patent: June 16, 1981
    Assignee: Abbott Laboratories
Inventors: Chung-Mei Ling, Richard H. Decker, Ruben Chairez
  • Patent number: 4230683
Abstract: The present invention encompasses an improved method for detecting antigen or antibody bound to a solid support which involves the reaction of hapten-labeled antibody to the antigen or antibody to be detected followed by reaction of the hapten moiety with labeled antibody to the hapten and the determination of the amount of label bound to the solid support.
