  • Patent number: 11627726
Abstract: A system and method for estimating livestock weight is described. Embodiments of the system can include a computing device and a three-dimensional tag configured to be secured to an animal. One or more images of an animal, including the three-dimensional tag, can be processed to take various measurements of the animal. A scaling factor for the measurements can be based on the three-dimensional tag. After the measurement are calibrated, a weight of the animal can be estimated based on the calibrated measurements.

  • Patent number: 10334819
Abstract: A flexible and collapsible liquid storage bag comprising front and back walls formed from a sheet material is described wherein a front wall and a back wall are joined along a perimeter of the bag and are also joined at a joined center portion proximate the centers of the respective front and back sheets. The bags are typically used in the storage, heat-treatment and dispensing of bovine colostrum.

  • Patent number: 9357798
Abstract: Proof of treatment closures for vessels and methods of use of the closures are described. Embodiments the closures indicate that vessel contents have reached at least a predetermined temperature. The proof of treatment closures can show that vessel contents a distance within the vessel interior have reached the threshold conditions, rather than reflecting conditions of the vessel itself, or of vessel contents in close proximity to a vessel peripheral boundary. Embodiments include proof of treatment closures resistant to status tampering, such that it is difficult to activate the indicator without reaching the specified conditions. The proof of treatment closures can also be seal tamper evident, such that loosening or removing the closure from the vessel, or otherwise breaking a seal between the closure and the vessel, leaves conspicuous evidence of such.

  • Patent number: 8490577
Abstract: Flexible, collapsible, liquid-tight containers are described. The containers are typically formed of sheet material and having a pouring or dispensing spout with closure for same. The sheet material is preferably a laminate having at least three layers, including a central, heat-conductive layer, an outer layer of a polymer resistant to physical damage and an inner layer of a thermoplastic polymer which can be fused to another inner layer to seal the edges of the bag. Dispensing fixtures such as a nipple assembly and an esophageal feeder are described, and can be used in feeding calves and other young animals. Processes of heat treating liquids in the containers, including the pasteurizing of dairy products, are described. Methods of using the containers for feeding animals are also described.

  • Patent number: 7401546
Abstract: Batch pasteurizers are disclosed for processing milk, colostrum and other dairy products. The pasteurizers comprise inner drums to contain the processed liquid, an outer drum surrounding same and providing an annular space for retaining a heating fluid (heated by an electrical heater), a helical coil to carry cooling fluid through the heating fluid, a motorized pump or impeller to agitate the treated liquid to optimize heat transfer, and a control system to switch the heater on and off, actuate cooling liquid flow and optionally, at least partially drain the heating fluid to provide a temperature/time profile and close temperature tolerance, all of which produce pasteurized products with adequate levels of immunoglobulins to provide newborn animals with sufficient immune function.

  • Publication number: 20080063771
Abstract: A flexible heat exchange jacket is provided which has channels for flow of a heat exchange fluid along one side, with inlets and outlets attached to a source of heat exchange fluid. The jacket can be attached in a watertight manner around the circumference of a cylindrical process container containing a liquid for heat treatment. Preferred embodiments include devices for heating and/or cooling the heat exchange fluid prior to entering the jacket, mixers for the liquid under treatment within the container, and heaters for the liquid within the container and/or the bottom of the container itself. A dairy pasteurizer version combines a cylindrical process container with a heat exchange jacket installed around its exterior with heating and refrigeration units for the heat exchange fluid, heat sensing and mixing devices, and a control system programmed to execute a pasteurization cycle.
