  • Patent number: 6039158
Abstract: A power-actuated parking brake is provided that produces sufficient force to set a parking brake for a locomotive. A powered drive train rotates a sheave over which a brake chain is positioned. Rotation of the sheave draws up the brake chain that is connected at one end to the parking brake. The parking brake is set when sufficient tension is applied to the brake chain by the powered drive. The drive train includes a drive shaft driven by an electric motor and connected to the sheave through a planetary reduction drive and a clutch.

  • Patent number: 5791559
Abstract: The temporary rail bridge (20) of the illustrated embodiment includes a bridge number (20) that is coupled to a track rail (16) by screw clamps (24). Each of the screw clamps (24) includes an internal tensioning component such as a spring (58) that allows for fast installation of the rail bridge (20) and maintains continuous pressure engagement in operation. The rail bridge (20) reduces track closure time due to rail damage and associated costs and inconvenience.

  • Patent number: 5636216
Abstract: In a local network connected to other networks which employ an Internet Protocol, and wherein the local network includes nodes which cannot monitor all other nodes in the local network, an Internet Protocol address of a target node in the local network is translated at a gateway node in the local network to a network-specific local address of the target node without the use of broadcasting. The network specific local address of the target node is the address which is usable within the local network for forwarding a packet to the target node.
