  • Patent number: 8424503
Abstract: An improved hemi engine rocker arm cover assembly having an enclosed, dry upper coil chamber and an open bottom, lower, wet rocker arm chamber that includes special seal and flange members to seal it to the engine head. The fully enclosed upper coil chamber includes a plurality of pairs of staggered coil mounting bosses, one pair per coil, and paired igniter boot apertures, one pair per coil. For performance engines, dual boot coils are mounted on the bosses with the boots extending into the wet chamber for sealingly engaging the igniters. For standard engines, single boot coils are used, and one of each pair of boot apertures is sealed with a special plug.

  • Patent number: 8061332
Abstract: A robust, combined fuel rail and wiring harness shield assembly, for each bank of cylinders of an IC engine, comprising a rectangular multi-planar plate having an integral longitud-inal mid-rib on one side, longitudinally bored as a fuel distribution manifold to EFI injectors mounted in generally angled bores spaced along the rib. In cross-section the assembly is generally T-shaped, and is preferably constructed of extruded aluminum. Flanking each side of the mid-rib are wings, one of which includes an angled flange. The mid-rib, wing and associated flange form a wiring management channel. The flange is angled down at approximately 135° on the outboard side of the cylinder bank so that it points vertically downwardly. In operation, assembly pairs are connected to a flexible fuel inlet line in series or parallel, with one (series plumbed) or both (in parallel plumbed systems) assembly longitudinal bores having a threaded plug at the distal end.

  • Patent number: 7979193
Abstract: 90°V12 reciprocating, EFI/DIS fueled/fired, IC engines having a PCM controller operating the engine in an Even Fire ignition mode, in a novel fueling and firing sequence called Progressive Single/Pair (PS/P) firing, wherein the cylinders of each of a set of four pairs of internal cylinders are simultaneously fueled and fired in parallel to produce a pump-gas fueled power curve greatly improved over V6 and V8 engines. The inherent imbalance-induced transitory vibration in IFR RPM is compensated-for by fuel feed control, namely, leaning one cylinder of each pair-fired cylinder pair. The inventive 90°V12 retro-fits into the engine compartment of conventional vehicles and can use any liquid or gaseous fuel. The inventive 90°V12 has use in the exemplary fields of: automotive engines; heavy military and industrial equipment and vehicle engines; marine engines; aircraft engines; and stationary power sources; in both 2-cycle and 4-cycle modes, and in normally aspirated, super-charged and turbo-charged configurations.

  • Patent number: 7942124
Abstract: An improved rocker arm cover assembly having an enclosed rocker arm chamber housing and a generally L-shaped bracket for mounting multiple coils to an exterior vertical side wall of the housing, so that the coils are exposed and laterally displaced from the housing. The bottom of the housing includes special seal and flange members to permit sealing mounting to the engine head so that the rocker arm chamber is isolated as a “wet” enclosure from the coil bracket assembly. The housing is mounted directly to the head via a plurality of through bolts. A fully isolated, dual function, oil fill/PCV valve conduit is provided through the top of the housing to permit adding lubrication oil or permitting exhaust of crankcase vapors without contaminating the coils, and permitting independent servicing of the coils. Several variations of coils and coil mounting brackets are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7350488
Abstract: A rocker arm cover comprises a shell having an upper portion and a lower portion formed by inner and outer side walls and end walls contiguous therewith. A dividing wall is joined to the side walls and end walls to define an upper cavity in the upper portion of the rocker arm cover and to define a lower cavity in the lower part of the rocker arm cover. A lid is fitted to the upper portion of the rocker arm cover to provide an enclosed cavity for housing the plurality of ignition coils.
