Patent number: 6078926Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for populating an object-oriented data structure from data stored in a conventional relational database. In particular, a method and apparatus is provided for transforming the results of a complex relational database query such as a join query (i.e., where each row of results from the relational database corresponds to data from multiple tables) into a network of inter-related heterogeneous objects contained an object-oriented data structure. Further, the present invention provides a method and apparatus for more efficiently knitting the relationships between newly created objects in an object-oriented data structure.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 1997Date of Patent: June 20, 2000Assignee: Persistence Software, Inc.Inventors: Richard H. Jensen, Shailesh Agarwal

Patent number: 5706506Abstract: In an object-oriented application being executed in a digital computing system comprising a processor, a method and apparatus are provided for managing information retrieved from a structured database, such as a relational database, wherein the processor is used to construct a plurality of object instances, each of these object instances having its own unique object ID that provides a mapping between the object instance and at least one row in the structured database. The processor is used to construct a single cohesive data structure, called an object cache, that comprises all the object instances and that represents information retrieved from the structured database in a form suitable for use by one or more object-oriented applications.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 1996Date of Patent: January 6, 1998Assignee: Persistence Software, Inc.Inventors: Richard H. Jensen, Derek P. Henninger

Patent number: 5499371Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for using an object model of an object-oriented application to automatically map information between an object-oriented application and a structured database, such as a relational database. This is done by taking into account all of the semantics (implications) of an object model, such as inheritance and relationships among object classes, and using these semantics to generate a minimal set of routines for each object class that manipulate the object and other objects to which it is related or from which it inherits. The generated routines, when executed, provide transparent access to relational data or other field-delimited data. Object classes and routines generated using the method encapsulate all the details of database access, such that developers (computer programmers) can write object-oriented applications using those object classes without any explicit reference to or knowledge of the underlying database or its structure.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 1995Date of Patent: March 12, 1996Assignee: Persistence Software, Inc.Inventors: Derek P. Patent number: 5338137Abstract: A pair of tracks having spaced cutouts formed along the longitudinal extent thereof are mounted vertically on opposite walls of a compartment such as the interior of a truck or other transportation vehicle. A beam assembly is formed by a pair of channel members and a beam member in which the channel members are slidably supported in telescoping relationship, the channel members having limited longitudinal movement relative to the beam member. One end of each of the channel members protrudes from the beam member and has a spring actuated latching device attached thereto. The effective length of the assembly can be adjusted by slidably positioning the channel members relative to the beam member to bring the latching devices into contact with the opposing tracks with such latching devices being selectively fitted onto flanged portions of the track and into a pair of opposing track openings so that they latch onto the track.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 1992Date of Patent: August 16, 1994Inventor: Richard H. Jensen

Patent number: 5265992Abstract: A tie down fitting is adapted to fit into a cutout or hole formed in a track or the like installed on the floor of a vehicle. The fitting has a pair of slotted portions which fit into the cutout in engagement with the end edges thereof. A spring actuated plunger is provided on the fitting which when manually raised permits the slotted portions to be fitted in the cutout and after being so fitted limits motion of the fitting thereby retaining the fitting in the cutout. In one embodiment of the invention, a latch formed with a protrusion on the plunger and a pair of rivets on the main body of the fitting provide upper and lower limit stops for the plunger.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 1990Date of Patent: November 30, 1993Assignee: Ancra CorporationInventor: Richard H. Patent number: 5085720Abstract: A method for reducing X-Y shrinkage during firing of green ceramic bodies in which a release layer, which becomes porous during firing, is placed upon the ceramic body and the assemblage is fired while maintaining pressure on the assemblage normal to the body surface.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 1991Date of Patent: February 4, 1992Assignee: E. I. Du Pont de Nemours and CompanyInventors: Kurt R. Mikeska, Daniel T. Schaefer, Richard H. Jensen

Patent number: 4823927Abstract: A retractable roller system for handling cargo has a main channel which is mounted on the floor of a vehicle into which cargo is to be loaded. a pneumatically actuated bladder is mounted along the bottom of the channel and a roller tray on which a plurality of roller members are rotatably supported is mounted in the channel above the bladder. Extending outwardly from each of the opposing side walls of the roller tray is a flange member, the flange member of one of the walls being at a lower level therealong than the flange member of the opposing wall. Extending inwardly from each of the side walls of the main channel is a flange member, the flange member of one of the channel walls being at a lower level therealong than the flange member of the other channel wall.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 1987Date of Patent: April 25, 1989Assignee: Ancra CorporationInventor: Richard H. Patent number: 4708549Abstract: An anchor fitting has flat surfaced pads with shoulders extending therefrom and a post portion extending along an axis substantially normal to the flat surfaces of the pads. A fastening device is provided on the post for anchoring a load to a track on which the fitting is removably mounted. The device further includes a screw adjustable plunger and clamp member which can be adjustably positioned by the screw along an axis substantially normal to the flat surfaces of the pads. The fitting is removably retained in a selected position along a slotted track, having a plurality of notched portions separated by narrow neck portions formed by flanges, with the shoulders of the pads and the track slots underneath the flanges and with the plunger lowered by the screw so that it is seated in one of the notched portions of the track with a clamping shoulder portion of the plunger-clamp unit in tight engagement with the top surface of the track.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 1986Date of Patent: November 24, 1987Assignee: Ancra CorporationInventor: Richard H. Patent number: 4060936Abstract: A cargo container is provided with a door opening having means for engaging and disengaging the top and/or bottom of the door on vertical movement thereof. A hollow rail extends across the top and/or bottom of the door opening and has elongated slots therein provided with slot-enlargements for receiving a foot or feet of a locking member movable along the bottom and/or top of the door. The locking member includes a reduced portion movable through the slot and an enlarged portion having a transverse dimension greater than the width of the slot. Suitable means, preferably rack and pinion means, are provided for shifting the locking members along the door to locking position after movement through the slot-enlargements into the interior of the rail.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 1976Date of Patent: December 6, 1977Assignee: Brooks & Perkins, IncorporatedInventors: Richard H.
