  • Publication number: 20120053383
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method for producing, inter alia, olefins from refinery saturated and unsaturated off-gas. Furthermore, said refinery streams are not required to undergo deoxygenation reaction in a separate reactor system provided they are fed to the pyrolysis furnace. The refinery off-gases are treated to produce olefins such as ethylene and propylene. Gases from petrochemical facilities, gas separation plants and similar facilities that produce light gases containing ethane and propane are useful in the present method.

  • Patent number: 5768913
Abstract: A process and system for providing cooling service (refrigerant) for a gas separation process wherein the refrigerant is obtained from the system process fluid and after serving as refrigerant is returned to the process side for separation into product.

  • Patent number: 5414170
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved process for selectively hydrogenating acetylenes in an olefin plant process stream by selectively hydrogenating the acetylenes downstream of a front end depropanizer and upstream of further separation zones such as a demethanizer and/or de-ethanizer.

  • Patent number: 5035732
Abstract: A cryogenic technique for recovering ethene from a gaseous mixture containing methane, ethane, etc. Operating methods and apparatus are provided for passing the gas feed through a chilling train having a series of dephlegmator-type exchange units to condense liquid rich in ethene and ethane, while separating a major portion of methane and lighter gas. A multizone demethanizer removes condensed methane from the C.sub.2 fraction to provide multiple methane free liquid streams of varying ethene to ethane ratio at least one of which is essentially C.sub.3 free.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 4, 1990
Date of Patent: July 30, 1991
Assignee: Stone & Webster Engineering Corporation

  • Patent number: 4900347
Abstract: A cyrogenic technique for recovering ethene from a gaseous mixture containing methane, ethane, etc. Operating methods and apparatus are provided for passing the gas feed through a chilling train having a series of dephlegmator-type exchange units to condense liquid rich in ethene and ethane, while separating a major portion of methane and lighter gas. A multizone demethanizer removes condensed methane from the C.sub.2 fraction to provide a pure product economically.
