  • Publication number: 20040085347
Abstract: A computerized method for managing a storage area network (SAN) including a SAN manager associated with a storage area mapping (SAM) module. The method includes displaying, in a first window of a graphical user interface (GUI), any mapped devices, and displaying, in a second window of the GUI, any unmapped devices. A user can supplement a topology map selectively and incrementally, using inferred link information and/or user-supplied information to include additional devices in the map.

  • Publication number: 20040085367
Abstract: A computer-implemented method of allowing a user to select a visual component for one of a plurality of navigation objects in a table cell. The method includes using a label and pointers to the navigation objects to allow the user to select one of the navigation objects. The user can navigate directly from the table to view information pertinent to the selected navigation object.

  • Publication number: 20040064458
Abstract: A value-add software component of an application registers as a deletion objector in order to help determine whether or not to delete an object from an object database in the application. A user interface (UI) component in the application receives a request from the user to delete one or more selected objects from the database, and notifies the deletion objector of the received deletion request. In response, the deletion objector notifies the UI component whether or not the selected objects should be deleted based on any dependencies the deletion objector has built on the selected object(s) in the deletion request. The deletion objector's response to the deletion request may indicate either that the selected objects should be deleted, the selected objects should not be deleted, or that the user should be warned of certain consequences before the selected objects are deleted.

  • Publication number: 20030184584
Abstract: A software framework integrates user interfaces of a plurality independent components into a common graphical user interface (GUI). A first independent component has a Java core framework and first user interface (UI) elements. A second independent component has a Java core framework and second UI elements. A UI framework generates the common GUI. The UI framework includes a base UI component that is a Java core component and that communicates with and integrates the first and second UI elements. The base UI component generates a base application window and provides a set of common UI services. The base application window is a browser-style interface. The UI framework is a Java class library that is built by a set of tools that are based on JavaSwing components.

  • Publication number: 20030115306
Abstract: A storage area network (SAN) management system for a computer network includes at least one SAN with a plurality of devices. A computer communicates with the SAN. A SAN manager is associated with the computer. A discovery module automatically discovers the devices and links between the devices. A storage area mapping (SAM) module graphically represents the devices of the SAN and links between the devices. The SAM module allows an operator to add a link between the devices, to remove a link between the devices and/or to move a link between the devices.
