  • Patent number: 9342139
Abstract: A method for automatically pairing an input device to a user is provided herein. According to one embodiment, the method includes receiving an input from an unpaired input device within an observed scene, and calculating a position of the unpaired input device upon receiving the input. The method further includes detecting one or more users within the observed scene via a capture device, creating a candidate list of the one or more detected users determined to be within a vicinity of the unpaired input device, and assigning one detected user on the candidate list to the unpaired input device to initiate pairing.

  • Patent number: 8799808
Abstract: An adaptive multi-line view user interface is provided that varies the manner in which data is displayed as the size of the user interface is changed. As the available horizontal space in the user interface becomes too small to display the text or data on a given display line, the data is rearranged to fit the available space. Text or data that will be truncated as the width of the user interface is decreased is moved to a separate display line beneath the line in which the truncated text or data was previously displayed. A maximum number of lines may be specified for displaying text or data. After the maximum number of lines is reached, additional text or data truncated by narrowing the width of the user interface is not displayed. The displayed lines of text or data may be displayed according to a progressively lighter font from line to line so that lines at or near the top of a given displayed text or data record are darker and more readily draw the attention of a reader.

  • Publication number: 20130127738
Abstract: Embodiments are disclosed that relate to dynamically scaling a mapping between a touch sensor and a display screen. One disclosed embodiment provides a method including setting a first user interface mapping that maps an area of the touch sensor to a first area of the display screen, receiving a user input from the user input device that changes a user interaction context of the user interface, and in response to the user input, setting a second user interface mapping that maps the area of the touch sensor to a second area of the display screen. The method further comprises providing to the display device an output of a user interface image representing the user input at a location based on the second user interface mapping.

  • Patent number: 8019903
Abstract: An accessory computing device or display detachable from another computing device such as a mobile computing device. The accessory computing device displays data from the mobile computing device including notifications relating to electronic mail messages, voice mail messages, stock prices, sports scores, etc. A user interacts with the accessory computing device to control the mobile computing device by, for example, replying to messages, controlling a game executing on the mobile computing device, or silencing a ringer on the mobile computing device. In some embodiments, a plurality of the accessory computing devices interact with the same mobile computing device (e.g., in a multi-player game or device location tracking application executing on the mobile computing device).
