  • Publication number: 20120278160
Abstract: A facility selects a unit of content to include in an instance of a content container. For each of a plurality of units of content, across a plurality of other instances of the content container distributed during a foregoing period of time that included the unit of content, the facility determines both an average level of success achieved by including the unit of content, and a measure of the level of variability of the level of success achieved by including the unit of content. The facility scores each unit of content by selecting a value from a probability distribution that is based on the determined average level of success and measure of the level of variability of the level of success. The facility selects one of the units of content to include in the instance of the content container based on the determined scores.

  • Patent number: 8178596
Abstract: The PAM delivery product is a solid form of polyacrylamide polymer (PAM). Among other things, the PAM delivery product can be used to prevent ruts formed during center-pivot irrigation, prevent erosion of irrigation ditches, clarify wastewater, and assist seed germination and seedling establishment. The PAM delivery product includes pure PAM and water to create a solid “loaf.” Water-soluble calcium (Ca) can also be added to the PAM delivery product depending on the specific application for the PAM delivery product. When Ca is used in the PAM delivery product, it is present in a 9:1 ratio to the PAM There are no fixing agents needed in the PAM delivery product; it is pure active ingredient.

  • Publication number: 20110191372
Abstract: A computer-based method for generating intelligence from social media data, such as blog data, that is publicly available on the Internet. A server is provided that runs a tribe analysis tool, and the method includes accessing a set of the social media data with the tribe analysis tool. The social media data is associated with a plurality of network users or authors. The method continues with operating the tribe analysis tool to identify members of a tribe from the authors by processing the set of social media data to determine the authors having associated portions of the social media data that satisfies tribe membership criteria. Common interests for the identified members of the tribe are determined by processing the social media data associated with the tribe authors. A report is generated for the tribe that includes information related to the set of common interests and additional generated tribe-based intelligence.

  • Patent number: 7443348
Abstract: An omni-directional antenna includes an electrically conductive ground plane, an electrically conductive parasitic disc spaced upwardly apart from the ground plane and parallel thereto, and an electrically conductive vertical antenna element extending up through the center of the ground plane and parasitic disc, The vertical element terminates in a tip defining a length above the parasitic disc that is matched to a frequency of interest. The parasitic disc and ground plane are preferably both circular. To prevent electrical connection, the vertical element preferably extends through separate insulators in the parasitic disc and ground plane. The length of the vertical element is matched to a microwave frequency; in particular, the length of the vertical element is proportioned to one-quarter wavelength of the frequency of interest. The invention is particularly suited to microwave frequencies.

  • Publication number: 20080055186
Abstract: A thin layer or layers of electrically conductive material applied to the exterior surface of the enclosure exploits the skin effect for antenna implementations. Using an additive manufacturing process of the type wherein layers of material are consolidated without melting the material in bulk, at least the electrical interconnection may be completely embedded within the wall of the enclosure. Indeed, the transmitter, receiver, or transceiver and the electrical interconnection may also be completely embedded within the enclosure or the wall thereof. A pair of antennas may be provided to function as a dipole, for example. Alternatively, a plurality of antennas arranged to facilitate frequency tuning, beam steering, or other parameters. The antenna and enclosure are preferably fabricated from materials having different dielectric constants, including different metals.

  • Publication number: 20070264515
Abstract: A bonded structure including one or more substrates bonded together with a tackified amorphous poly-alpha-olefin adhesive composition. One method of making such a bonded structure is carried out by applying a tackified amorphous poly-alpha-olefin adhesive composition to one or more substrates at a temperature of about 170 degrees Celsius or lower, and joining the substrates to themselves or to one another. The bonded structure has a dynamic peel strength between about 400 and about 1000 grams per 25 millimeters. The bonding efficiency of the bonded structure renders the bonded structure suitable for incorporation into a variety of articles, including personal care products, health/medical products, and household/industrial product, for example.

  • Publication number: 20070151504
Abstract: There is provided a quartz glass article having a surface treated with novel coating materials which provides a reduced chemistry, wherein the quartz glass surface having a reduced chemistry upon exposure to melted silicon or similarly corrosive environments, forms crystalline structures covering at least 75% of the coated surface of the quartz glass crucible. Said crystalline covered surface provides a more stable surface of contact with the silicon melt and the growth of single crystal silicon. In one embodiment of the invention, the coating material comprises at least a methyl group for providing at least one of a hydrogenated and a methylated surface on the coated surface, forming rosette structures, or other crystalline morphologies covering at last 80% of the coated surface. In another embodiment of the invention, the coating material is selected from at least one of an amine, an organosilane halogen and mixtures thereof.
