  • Publication number: 20060199493
Abstract: A vent assembly, suitable for marine use including, for example, venting an enclosure, such as an engine compartment, on a boat. The vent assembly has substantially the external appearance of a cast or machined, one piece, stainless steel vent, at a cost very little more than a molded plastics vent. A molded plastics vent has a head perforated by a pattern of ventilating slots separated by flanking strips. A decorative, corrosion-resistant, sheet metal cover shell lies tight against the front side of the molded plastics vent and has a pattern of slots and strips mapping substantially on the pattern of slots and strips of the molded plastics vent. Snap-fit fasteners fix the cover shell on the vent so that the cover shell slots are a substantially flush continuation of the vent slots, so as to provide the decorative appearance of a solid metal vent at substantially lower cost and without compromising or through flow capability.

  • Patent number: 7086759
Abstract: A lamp includes a housing for a light emitter, e.g. a halogen bulb. The housing has a primary light outlet adjacent its forward end, and a peripheral wall having a plurality of secondary light-emitting openings. A light transmitting ring fixed on the housing has fingers covering the second openings. A retaining ring fixes a lens at the primary opening and to the light transmitting ring.

  • Publication number: 20050225966
Abstract: A light fixture for flush mounting against a ceiling wall includes a housing for securement in a wall hole and a light transmitting lens. The lens is flush with the wall and covers the entirety of the housing so that the housing is not viewable when installed. The outer edge of the lens is out of line of sight relation with the light source, but provides illumination through radial transmission of light outwardly from a central portion of the lens. Movable tongues supported at opposing sides of the housing and grooves formed in a skirt of the lens removably join the lens to the housing.

  • Patent number: 6820847
Abstract: A pedestal includes a base is releasably fixed to an elongate post. The base includes an annular flange and a central plateau which has a central opening. At least one tongue extends from the plateau into the opening. A rim protrudes from the flange and is spaced radially outboard of the plateau. A spider is fixed on the post end and has at least one radially outwardly extending leg. The post has a first circumferential position in which the leg is located in the base central opening circumferentially offset from the tongue. The post has a second circumferential position in which the leg snugly underlies and is axially trapped by the tongue. One of the tongue and the leg have a circumferentially extending ramp surface tightly camingly engaged with an opposed surface of the other of the tongue and the leg in the post second position. In the post second position, the leg axially tightly abuts the plateau and the tongue tightly abuts the opposed surface. An annular member is axially movable on the post.

  • Publication number: 20040062047
Abstract: A lighted handle includes an elongate light transmitting member that has first and second end portions. First and second support surface engageable mounting brackets carry the first and second end portions of the light transmitting member. A narrow beam light emitter is located in the first mounting bracket and has a light beam emitting end. The light beam emitting end faces the adjacent first end portion of the light transmitting member and is aimed longitudinally along the light transmitting member to make the same more visible.

  • Publication number: 20030201704
Abstract: A lamp includes a light emitting unit which has a light source and a generally concave reflector. A light transmitting member is removably attached to the light emitting unit and includes a light reflecting region and a light transmitting region. The lamp includes a collar which has a base that defines a central opening. Positioned in the central opening is a lens. An annular wall surrounds the base and includes first and second rims which extend axially away from an outer edge of the base in opposition to one another. A recess bounded by the first rim is sized to receive an end of the light transmitting member. A recess bounded by the second rim is sized to receive an end of the light emitting unit.

  • Patent number: 6612725
Abstract: A light assembly including a tray (36) that is removably fitted in a housing (12). The tray has two parallel, angled slots (48). An LED (32) is mounted to a circuit board (34) so that its axis is angularly offset from the axis of the circuit board. When the light assembly is assembled, a side edge of the circuit board is seated in one of the tray slots. If a first one circuit board side edges is seated in a first slot, the LED has a first angular orientation relative to the longitudinal axis of the housing. Alternatively, the second circuit board side edges is seated in the second slot so that the LED has a second angular orientation relative to the longitudinal axis of the housing. This allows selective control the angular orientation of the emitted light beam relative to the longitudinal axis of the housing.

  • Patent number: 5355728
Abstract: A balancing station includes a vertical spindle having a collet for frictionally engaging the center hole of a wheel. A motor driven drum is mounted on an arm which is moved by an actuator to urge the drum against the wheel with a radial force so that it can frictionally drive the wheel. An idler drum or a second driven drum mounted on a similar arm on the opposite side of the wheel is moved by an actuator to engage the wheel at a location diametrically opposite the driven drum to apply a radial force to the wheel equal and opposite to the force from the driven drum. The arms are symmetrically mounted with respect to the spindle so that the two drums will contact diametrically opposite locations on the wheel for any size wheel over a large size range.

  • Patent number: 5224638
Abstract: An apparatus and method for severing a workpiece wherein the workpiece is clamped at two axially spaced apart locations, and heated to reduce the tensile strength of the material, after which the axial spacing between the clamps is increased to pull the workpiece apart in the heated area. This apparatus and method may also be used in a flying environment; i.e., the severing apparatus travels with the workpiece to sever sections of a workpiece continuously emanating from a fabrication mill.

  • Patent number: 4964325
Abstract: A cut-off machine especially suitable for handling tubing and including a machine frame defining a work treatment area, a ram on the frame adjacent the work treatment area mounted for movement through a power stroke by at least two drive members engaging the ram at spaced points, a motor system mounted on the frame, and a drive system interconnecting the motor system and the drive members on the ram. The drive system comprises a pair of flywheels driven by the motor system, a pair of crank shafts driven by the flywheels through a clutch associated with each flywheel, and a crank portion on each crank shaft journalled in the ram so that the ram is moved through an orbital path in response to rotation of the crank shafts. A gear train is positioned between the crank shafts to synchronize the rotation of the crank shafts to ensure that the ram moves in a translatory manner through its orbital path.

  • Patent number: 4764851
Abstract: A dual light source lighting fixture is made up of two identical single light source fixtures, the housings of which are identical. Each housing has one square end and each is symmetrical about an axis normal to the square end so that the single housing can be assembled into a double housing in an end to end relationship simply by removing an end cover, locking the housings together by use of a connector and covering the joint with a snap-on cover.
