  • Patent number: 8596136
Abstract: A system for tracking and monitoring data related to the manufacture, installation and/or life cycle of concrete structures, such as pilings, as well as related system components and methods for tracking, storing and accessing such data is provided. The system utilizes an embeddable antenna assembly as well as a sensor package that are installed in the concrete structure form before casting. The antenna provides wireless communication of the data from the structure. On board memory is also provided to store structure related data with the structure. A system for tracking a pile during driving is also provided, and life cycle monitoring is also provided.

  • Patent number: 7326312
Abstract: The process for laying a non-full width course of fiber composite tape in a part is designed to ensure that all of the scrap portion of the tape surrounding the non-full width course is deposited in the scrap area and not in the part. An extra cut is made in tape downstream of the non-full width course, between the non-full width course and next course. After the tape head attempts to lay the scrap in the scrap area in the forward direction, the tape head makes a pass in the scrap area with the tape feed and the tape head moving in the reverse direction, and the scrap is laid beginning from the portion of the tape having the extra cut, and progressing to the non-full width course. The method may be used to remove scrap from around non-full width courses having any shape.

  • Patent number: 5842921
Abstract: Improvements are described for a data processing system and method that allows a betting "house" to maintain a betting pool on a contest involving two or more contestants by controlling the terms (the betting odds and/or handicaps) for the contestants so that bettors are encouraged to place bets that will bring the betting pool (the "book") into balance. The system and method provides for "hedging" of bets in light of changing betting terms, such that bettors can guarantee profits or minimize losses before the contest is complete. Incoming bets may be placed in a queue before being processed, and their effect on pool balance evaluated before accepting or rejecting the bets. Bets in the queue may be accepted only in matching sets on all of the participating contestants, so as to prevent any imbalance of the betting pool. Alternatively, the bets may be rejected with an indication of the change in betting terms which would be required if the bets are to be accepted.
