  • Patent number: 10611323
Abstract: An audio system of a vehicle includes a selection module configured to, based on whether a gear shift of a transmission of the vehicle is occurring, set a selected torque to one of: a torque output of an engine of the vehicle; and a predicted torque output of the engine. A sound control module is configured to: determine frequencies for outputting a predetermined engine sound; and based on the selected torque, determine magnitudes for outputting the predetermined engine sound at the frequencies, respectively. An audio driver module is configured to apply power to speakers to output sound within a passenger cabin of the vehicle at the magnitudes and frequencies, respectively.

  • Patent number: 10583838
Abstract: Methods and systems for automatic braking for vehicles having a manual transmission are disclosed. An exemplary method includes providing a vehicle with at least one vehicle sensor, at least one actuator, and a controller in communication with the at least one vehicle sensor and the at least one actuator, determining a vehicle speed and an engine speed, receiving sensor data from the at least one vehicle sensor, calculating if the vehicle speed should be reduced based on the sensor data from the at least one vehicle sensor, generating a first control signal if the vehicle speed should be reduced, calculating if the engine speed is below a predetermined idle speed, generating a second control signal if the engine speed is below the predetermined idle speed, and automatically controlling the at least one actuator based on the first and second control signals.

  • Patent number: 10229232
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for generating a predictive tachometer profile at a tachometer of a vehicle. When an inertia phase of a transmission shift event is determined to be in progress, the predictive tachometer profile can be computed based on: a computed shift completion percentage; a difference between the current attained gear speed and the commanded gear speed; and a commanded engine torque that is determined based on the accelerator pedal position and the vehicle speed. The predictive tachometer profile can then be displayed at the tachometer. The predictive tachometer profile accounts for delays in a signal path between an engine speed sensor and the tachometer.

  • Patent number: 10174693
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for generating a predictive tachometer profile at a tachometer of a vehicle. An engine speed offset can be generated based on an engine acceleration and an accelerator pedal position rate. A predictive tachometer profile displayed at the tachometer can then be generated based on the engine speed offset and an actual engine speed.

  • Publication number: 20180074088
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for generating a predictive tachometer profile at a tachometer of a vehicle. An engine speed offset can be generated based on a commended engine torque and engine inertia. A predictive tachometer profile displayed at the tachometer can then be generated based on the engine speed offset and a previous predictive tachometer profile.

  • Patent number: 9719595
Abstract: An active rev-matching system for a motor vehicle manual transmission includes an engine control module that monitors and adjusts an output speed of the motor vehicle's prime mover and at least one sensor that monitors movement of a shift linkage. When the at least one sensor determines the movement of the shift linkage is an in-gate downshift, the engine control module adjusts the available time for the engine control module to match the output speed of the prime mover to an input speed of the transmission.
