    Abstract: An instrument, method and two-piece plastic-like fastener for surgically fastening tissue by:(A) placing the tissue between: (1) a retainer of an absorbable material, that is located distally of the tissue and that has a hole which extends longitudinally through it; (2) an elongated rigid piercing member that is located proximally of the tissue, that extends longitudinally, and that has means on its distal end for piercing the tissue; and (3) a fastener of an absorbable material, that is also located proximally of the tissue and that has a distally extending prong which, during distal movement of the fastener, can (a) move distally through an opening pierced in the tissue by the piercing member and (b) then move distally into the retainer hole to hold the retainer and fastener together;(B) then moving the piercing member distally so that its distal end pierces the tissue; and(C) then moving the fastener distally so that its prong moves through the opening pierced in the tissue and into the retainer hole to ho

    Abstract: A portable hair dryer comprising an elongated casing of circular transverse cross-section and including a handle portion at one end an air discharge nozzle portion at the opposite end and an enlarged diameter intermediate section housing operative elements comprising a heater element and a motor driven fan for generating heated output air which is drawn from input air circulated by the fan through the heater element and outwardly through a discharge orifice provided in the nozzle portion. The motor, fan and heater element are supported on a common support member which is mounted on a single support element which comprises a base portion of the intermediate casing section which extends from the handle portion. The handle portion is separated from the base portion of said intermediate section by air intake vents through which said input air is drawn and in which handle is housed the switch and circuit control elements of the appliance.

    Abstract: A trimmer device for an electric dry shaver is disclosed having a trimmer cutter assembly which is mounted for rotation between operative and inoperative positions on the shaver. The trimmer cutter is biased to an operative position. A latch and release for securing the assembly in an inoperative position and for releasing the assembly to an operative position comprises a resilient latch body and a cantilever support for the latch body which positions the latch body in a path of travel of the rotatable assembly. A catch is provided for effecting and maintaining engagement between the latch body and the assembly and for effecting disengagement upon tactile actuation thereof.
