  • Patent number: 6153048
Abstract: A mounting arrangement is provided for rollers in a pressure sealer wherein a folded business form is fed along a processing path between at least one pair of cooperating, rotating, first and second rollers. A support structure is provided for holding the rollers with the first roller in a fixed location while accommodating movement of a second roller along a plane in either of two opposite directions toward and away from the first roller. Each roller has a pressure-applying, cylindrical surface. Each roller has two spaced-apart bearing structures for engaging the support structure to accommodate rotation of a respective one of the rollers and for engaging one of the bearing structures of the other rollers to define a predetermined minimum spacing between the cylindrical surfaces of the first and second rollers. At least one spring is provided for urging the bearing structures of the second roller toward the bearing structures of the first roller.

  • Patent number: 5391138
Abstract: A sheet feeding system as provided for use in a buckle-type sheet folding apparatus which has sheet-receiving chutes and rollers for folding a sheet. The system includes a frame in which the sheet-receiving chutes are disposed and in which two of the rollers are rotatably mounted in parallel adjacent the chutes. A roller holder is removably mounted in the frame. An entrance roller and a coacting main roller are rotatably mounted in the holder parallel to the two rollers to define an intake nip.

  • Patent number: 5114395
Abstract: A feed mechanism for a folding machine and a folding machine for sheet material. The folding machine has a plurality of rollers for folding sheet material, drive means for rotating said rollers, at least two pocket assemblies with microswitches positioned to be contacted by sheet material passing through said pocket assemblies. The drive means are controlled by these pocket assembly microswitches and a cam microswitch, which is contacted by a cam attached at one end of a roller. The feed mechanism consists of a roller flat having a curved side and a flat side. Between the flat side and a second roller, a gap is formed allowing sheet material to be inserted directly into a first pocket assembly. The sheet material thus inserted contacts a microswitch located in the pocket assembly activating the drive means which turns the roller flat so that its curved side forms a take-in nip with the second roller, feeding the paper in further to begin the folding process.
