  • Publication number: 20120081079
Abstract: A system includes a channel over which to charge a battery, control circuitry, and a discharge circuit associated with the channel to discharge the battery. The discharge circuit is configured for discharging the battery at a current that exceeds an operational current through the channel. In response to a fault in the battery, the control circuitry is configured to disconnect the battery from a signal path in the channel and to produce an electrical connection to enable discharge of the battery through the discharge circuit.

  • Publication number: 20080129462
Abstract: Composite materials that include a resin containing a polymer obtained by polymerizing a monomer mixture that contains at least one polymerizable monomer and a magnetic material, where the composite material can be used to make sheet stock and articles, such as storage containers. The composite materials can be made by mechanical milling the magnetic material into the resin or by using bulk, suspension, emulsion, mini-emulsion or micro-emulsion polymerization techniques where the resin is formed in the presence of the magnetic material. Articles made of the composite material can be used in a method of deterring theft of an article which includes providing the above-described container, applying a magnetic field to an interrogation zone, causing movement of the container into the interrogation zone, and detecting a magnetic response resulting from the container moving into the interrogation zone.

  • Patent number: 5303161
Abstract: An integrated circuit mask artwork generator (10) is disclosed which can define relationships between individual components and which is also independent of the technology chosen. An artwork library database (58) is provided which contains macros each macro being capable of generating artwork for one of the electrical components of the particular technology type. A device generator (18) is provided for defining the type of circuit to be executed and for executing the macro for that circuit independent of the component's particular technology type. A means for defining relationships between the circuits (16) is provided with the relationships specified desirable physical relationships between sets of related circuit components. In conjunction with the schematic this provides a schematic with relationship annotations (14).

  • Patent number: 4813006
Abstract: An analog-digital correlator 10 utilizes a plurality of sample and hold cirucits 16-0 to 16-(M-1) to directly store samples of a received analog signal. Bits of a correlation pattern are shifted through stages in a correlation pattern shift register 26. The state of the correlation pattern bits causes the value in the associated sample and hold circuit 16 to either be inverted or noninverted when it is summed with other similarly generated signals from the remaining sample and hold circuits to form the correlation output sum by network 30. The output of network 30 will peak when the bits of the digital correlation pattern signal are shifted to stages in register 26 that are aligned with the sample and hold circuits containing the digitally-impressed code of interest. In the preferred embodiment, a mask shift register 28 is used to selectively disable certain of the sample and hold circuits from affecting the correlation output sum.

  • Patent number: 4146585
Abstract: Novel compounds comprising organic copolymer or terpolymer backbones having pendent hydrolyzable organosilicon groups bonded thereto, are disclosed. Treatment of inorganic oxide surfaces with the novel compounds renders them adherent to and/or compatible with resinous media.
