Patent number: 7322722Abstract: A light fixture for flush mounting against a ceiling wall includes a housing for securement in a wall hole and a light transmitting lens. The lens is flush with the wall and covers the entirety of the housing so that the housing is not viewable when installed. The outer edge of the lens is out of line of sight relation with the light source, but provides illumination through radial transmission of light outwardly from a central portion of the lens. Movable tongues supported at opposing sides of the housing and grooves formed in a skirt of the lens removably join the lens to the housing.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 2005Date of Patent: January 29, 2008Assignee: ITC, IncorporatedInventors: Richard Hartmann, Jr., Richard J. Patent number: 6820847Abstract: A pedestal includes a base is releasably fixed to an elongate post. The base includes an annular flange and a central plateau which has a central opening. At least one tongue extends from the plateau into the opening. A rim protrudes from the flange and is spaced radially outboard of the plateau. A spider is fixed on the post end and has at least one radially outwardly extending leg. The post has a first circumferential position in which the leg is located in the base central opening circumferentially offset from the tongue. The post has a second circumferential position in which the leg snugly underlies and is axially trapped by the tongue. One of the tongue and the leg have a circumferentially extending ramp surface tightly camingly engaged with an opposed surface of the other of the tongue and the leg in the post second position. In the post second position, the leg axially tightly abuts the plateau and the tongue tightly abuts the opposed surface. An annular member is axially movable on the post.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2002Date of Patent: November 23, 2004Assignee: ITC IncorporatedInventors: Richard J. Camarota, Richard Hartmann, Jr.

Publication number: 20030201704Abstract: A lamp includes a light emitting unit which has a light source and a generally concave reflector. A light transmitting member is removably attached to the light emitting unit and includes a light reflecting region and a light transmitting region. The lamp includes a collar which has a base that defines a central opening. Positioned in the central opening is a lens. An annular wall surrounds the base and includes first and second rims which extend axially away from an outer edge of the base in opposition to one another. A recess bounded by the first rim is sized to receive an end of the light transmitting member. A recess bounded by the second rim is sized to receive an end of the light emitting unit.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 25, 2002Publication date: October 30, 2003Inventors: Richard J. Patent number: 6454439Abstract: A light assembly (20) that includes a frame (28) and a body (22) disposed within the frame. A reflector (26), a socket (46) and a bulb (24) are disposed in the body. A lens (30) is fitted over the reflector, socket and bulb. The lens is snap fitted in a bezel ring (32). The bezel ring is snap fitted over to the body so as to be positioned around the reflector. The body is snap-fitted to the frame. An assembler of the light assembly of this invention can maintain a stock of frames, bodies and bezel rings that have different colors or other characteristics, such as on/off switches. Upon receiving an order for a light assembly in which the specific characteristics of the color are specified, the assembler selects the appropriate components from stock and assembles them together to provide the desired assembly.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 2000Date of Patent: September 24, 2002Assignee: ITC IncorporatedInventor: Richard J. Patent number: 6325525Abstract: An arrangement for variably mounting an illumination device in an enclosure, such as a safety sign, is provided with a longitudinal track having a longitudinal engagement portion. One or more illumination devices are provided with associated mounting feet for engaging slidably with the longitudinal engagement portion of the track. The track then is fixed onto a pair of stanchions having a respective plurality of engaging portions so that any of several heights can be achieved with respect to a base portion of the stanchion. Engagement of the mounting feet and the longitudinal track is effected by a longitudinal bent portion of the track that defines a space therewithin that accommodates the mounting feet. In addition, the longitudinal track accommodates the engagement portions of the stanchion for supporting the longitudinal track at the desired height.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 1999Date of Patent: December 4, 2001Assignee: ITC, Inc.Inventor: Richard J. Patent number: 6299327Abstract: A lighting system for installation on a mounting surface employs a lighting fixture having a housing with a lamp therein, a roof, and sides. Each side is provided with an integrally formed receiver that defines a receiver aperture. A coupler has a mounting portion for coupling with a mounting surface and an engagement portion that resiliently engages with the receiver aperture. The mounting portion of the coupler mounts directly onto a mounting surface and engages with a metal bar of the type used in metal furniture, or mounts on a track that is interposed between the roof of the lighting fixture and the mounting surface. Track-mounted embodiments use a threaded fastener engaged with the coupler to exert a locking force on the inside surface of the mounting track. In a dual-mount arrangement, a fixture mounting arrangement formed of substantially planar portions offset from one another permits engagement with a track, or facilitates mounting on a surface.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 1999Date of Patent: October 9, 2001Assignee: ITC, Inc.Inventor: Richard J. Patent number: 6186645Abstract: A flexible lighting system and method of making same. The flexible lighting system includes a flexible translucent rod and an attachment flange. Preferably, the outer casing and the attachment flange are integrally formed to facilitate installation. The flexible translucent rod includes an outer casing and a lighting core. The lighting core is disposed within an axial aperture defined by the outer casing and contains a series of lighting elements. In the preferred embodiment, a texture, such as axial grooves, is applied to a surface of the flexible translucent rod. This texture is applied to the outer surface of the lighting core or the inner surface of the outer casing to diffuse the light emitted by the discrete lighting elements, thereby providing an appearance similar to a solid bar of light. A mounting arrangement is provided for engaging the flexible translucent rod, or a coupler portion thereof, and is arranged to facilitate coupling of the flexible lighting system to a mounting surface.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 1999Date of Patent: February 13, 2001Assignee: ITC, Inc.Inventor: Richard J.
