  • Patent number: 5095212
Abstract: High efficiency method of detecting incident photons including illuminating a laser driven gaseous vapor with electromagnetic radiation enabling the excitation of an atom of the vapor upon absorption of an incident photon by the atom, introducing the incident photons into the vapor which is constituted to absorb the incident photons which in response, generates atomic fluroescence to in turn produce a long steam of secondary photons upon the absorption of an incident photon by an atom of the vapor and detecting the long stream of secondary photons with an ordinary low efficiency photo-detector.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 20, 1990
Date of Patent: March 10, 1992
Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the Air Force

  • Patent number: 4394108
Abstract: A truck vehicle carried boom system for lifting, transporting, and depositing a load of particulate material such as powder, granules or seeds into storage bins in material dispensing aircraft, including a telescoping boom structure pivotally mounted on support structure which in turn is rigidly secured to the vehicle frame. The boom includes provision for removable carrying a hopper form of load bag. An extensible piston-cylinder hydraulic motor is utilized to obtain various pivotal positions of the boom. The boom telescope disposition is maintained by a mechanical safety pin. The boom is extended and retracted by inertial forces generated by vehicle manipulation. As an auxiliary device a boom safety bar, hydraulically operated is secured to a side portion of the truck bumper structure to provide a safety block when the boom is in the aircraft loading position.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 21, 1977
Date of Patent: July 19, 1983
    Assignee: Mid-Continent Aircraft Corporation

  • Patent number: 4184802
Abstract: A truck vehicle carried boom and hopper system for lifting, transporting, and depositing a load of particulate material such as powder, granules or seeds into storage bins in material dispensing aicraft, including a hopper boom framework having spaced apart side bars pivotally mounted on the side bars on the front end of the vehicle mounted support structure. An extensible piston-cylinder hydraulic motor system is utilized to obtain various pivotal positions of the hopper boom. A manual hopper control valve is located in the bottom of the hopper, the hopper is pivotally mounted on a horizontal axis on the extended end of the boom and a safety bar is secured to a mid-portion of the boom to enable a safety block when the boom is in the aircraft loading position. Between the boom pivotal mounting on the truck frame and the truck frame is a trussed frame support construction which enables rigid pivotal support of the boom and hopper.
