  • Publication number: 20230366839
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a dual energy backscatter system that uses low energy and high energy radiation sources for object detection, characterization, and defect detection. The dual energy backscatter system may also be used to determine the internal structure of the object. The dual energy backscatter system may be used to detect objects underwater, including objects buried or partially buried in sand or sediment.

  • Publication number: 20220176141
Abstract: Systems and methods for wireless neural stimulation are presented. A microstimulator comprising a highly magnetic permeable material is implanted in the tissue of a living body. A wearable external controller creates a time-varying magnetic field that extends to the microstimulator in the tissue. The microstimulator re-shapes and boosts the time-varying magnetic field in the area surrounding the microstimulator, causing neural stimulation in the area around the microstimulator. A physician programmer device is also presented that allows a physician to program the wearable external controller.

  • Patent number: 10845319
Abstract: A system and method for foreign object detection in meat processing is provided. The system and method combine microfocus X-ray sources with dual energy X-rays to detect foreign objects in meat products. A dual energy image processing algorithm analyzes the dual energy X-rays passed through the meat product to identify the foreign object present therein. An alarm or other notification is then generated in response to the detection of a foreign object.

  • Patent number: 10591441
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for measuring oil/water content in oil-water mixtures, regardless of the salinity of the mixture and regardless of air in the sensor pipe. In some embodiments, the oil content is measured using a dielectric sensor. It is determined whether the oil content is above or below a threshold. If the oil content is above the threshold, the oil content is reported using the measurement from the dielectric sensor. If the oil content is below the threshold, the oil content is reported using the measurement from the eddy current sensor. In some embodiments, which improve performance when there is air in the sensor pipe, two dielectric sensors with different geometries are used instead of the one dielectric sensor.

  • Publication number: 20110039759
Abstract: The invention is based on the finding that the secretin receptor is expressed in tissues present in the distal lung of humans. In patient with CF, levels of the receptor are elevated compared to the normal tissue. Treatment of tissue by secretin stimulates the movement of negative ions in the tissue. The invention provide method of treating cystic fibrosis or COPD in a patient by administering to said patient an effective amount of an agent which triggers anion efflux in respiratory tissue via the activation of the secretin receptor.

  • Patent number: 7218102
Abstract: A apparatus for pipeline integrity monitoring comprising a magnetically permeable backing bar and at least three magnets comprising a relatively medium-strength magnet positioned at one end of the backing bar, a relatively low-strength magnet positioned at the other end of the backing bar, and a relative high-strength magnet positioned between the medium-strength and the low-strength magnet. The at least three magnets are adapted and positioned to induce a plurality of resultant fields within the pipeline wall comprising a first resultant field suitable for detecting a reduced metal-related anomaly and a second resultant field suitable for detecting a mechanically worked-related anomaly. Preferably, the first resultant field has a strength greater than 120 Oersted and the second resultant field has a strength between 40 and 80 Oersted.
