  • Patent number: 11977486
Abstract: A computer system includes a processor core and a memory system in signal communication with the processor core. The memory system includes a first cache and a second cache. The first cache is arranged at a first level of a hierarchy in the memory system and is configured to store a plurality of first-cache entries. The second cache is arranged at a second level of the hierarchy that is lower than the first level, and stores a plurality of second-cache entries. The first cache maintains a directory that contains information for each of the first-cache entries. The second cache maintains a shadow pointer directory (SPD) that includes one or more SPD entries that maps each of the first-cache entries to a corresponding second cache entry at a lower-level cache location.

  • Patent number: 7001158
Abstract: Digital fluid pumps having first and second electromagnetic actuators formed in part by a piston to alternately drive the piston in opposite directions for pumping purposes. The piston motion is intentionally limited so that the electromagnetic actuators may operate with a high flux density to provide an output pressure higher than that obtained with conventional solenoid actuated pumps. The electromagnetic actuator coils are electrically pulsed for each pumping cycle as required to maintain the desired fluid flow and output pressure, with the piston being magnetically latchable at one or both extreme positions between pulses. Alternate embodiments and control methods and systems are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6415749
Abstract: Herein disclosed is a power module comprising an air compressor chamber, an air supply valve operable to control air flow to the air compressor chamber, a combustion chamber separate from the air compressor chamber, an air storage chamber arranged between the air compressor chamber and the combustion chamber, an actuating fluid common rail, an actuating fluid compressor chamber, an actuating fluid supply valve operable to control actuating fluid flow to the actuating fluid compressor chamber, an actuating fluid storage chamber arranged between the actuating fluid compressor chamber and the actuating fluid common rail, a hydraulically-actuatable intake valve operable to control air flow to the combustion chamber, and a hydraulically-actuatable exhaust valve operable to control exhaust gas flow from the combustion chamber. Among other things, the power module provides significantly more power output than a conventional internal combustion engine of similar size.

  • Patent number: 5257606
Abstract: An accumulator includes a tubular housing mounted directly on a pump housing so that the accumulator chamber is located in near proximity to the pump chamber. The accumulator chamber may be defined partly by a check valve that isolates the pump from pressure surges while they are being damped by the accumulator. In a preferred arrangement, the accumulator housing has a threaded connection to the pump housing.
