  • Patent number: 4569110
Abstract: A duct fitting for connecting a branch duct to a main duct including a tubular body having cutting teeth formed on one end thereof for cutting a hole in the main duct by pressing the cutting teeth against the main duct and rotating the tubular body about its longitudinal axis. Subsequent to cutting of the hole, the cutting teeth are bent into engagement with the interior of the main duct to squeezingly hold the main duct between the bent over teeth and a resiliently deflectable mounting flange provided on the tubular body. An air diversion scoop is mounted in the bore of the tubular body and is pivotably moved so that a portion of the scoop extends from the tubular body into the main duct.

  • Patent number: 4491124
Abstract: A self-tapping duct fitting (10) in the form of a hollow sleeve having an interrupted cutting edge (20) at a one end (14) so that a hole (68) can be cut in a wall (66) of the duct by a rotative motion of the fitting. Preferably, the interrupted cutting edge (20) includes a plurality of teeth (22) which can form tabs bendable against the inner surface (72) of the duct wall (66) once a hole (68) has been cut in order to retain fitting (10) in place.

  • Patent number: 4308222
Abstract: An apparatus for evaporatively cooling air including an air moving mechanism for supplying air under pressure to an evaporator duct wherein water is sprayed into the airstream countercurrent to the airflow direction. The evaporator duct is especially configured to inhibit moisture migration toward the air moving device and the sprayed water is precooled to increase operating efficiency. A second stage of evaporative cooling may be included by tandemly coupling a second stage evaporator duct to the outlet of the first stage evaporator duct.
