  • Patent number: 7904050
Abstract: A mixer apparatus (60), such as an integrated circuit (IC) mixer is provided for improving the physical layout of devices containing mixers. The mixer includes a multiplier (62) with an input port (64), an output port (66), a first switchable local oscillator input port (68) and a second switchable local oscillator input port (72). The dual switchable local oscillator ports are located on either side of the mixer, between the input side and the output side. The dual switchable local oscillator ports allow the mixer to provide more flexibility in integrated circuit and printed circuit board design layouts involving mixer apparatus. For example, in dual channel devices, a local oscillator can be coupled to a pair of the mixers using transmission lines that do not have to be routed around the integrated circuit, to a different level of the printed circuit board or underneath one of the mixers.

  • Patent number: 5666084
Abstract: A multi-level demodulator has a VCO (32) and two reference frequency sources (50, 41). A relatively long time-constant loop (45, 47) has an input coupled to the VCO, an input coupled to one of the reference frequency sources (41) and an output coupled to the VCO. A relatively short time-constant loop (51, 30) has an input coupled to the VCO, an input coupled to the other reference frequency source (50) and an output coupled to the VCO.

  • Patent number: 5590418
Abstract: A gain stabilization loop performs discrete time adjustments to the RF amplifier forward gain path of a closed-loop transmitter power control system based on a measurement of the gain in the control loop. The stabilization of the RF amplifier gain allows the transmitter's control loop to remain functional over varying gain Conditions which are prevalent within stages of the RF amplifier gain path. The effects of gain changes within the stages due to part-to-part variations. and temperature effects are minimized or eliminated by this gain trimming.
