  • Patent number: 4613128
Abstract: A display device for creating the illusion of a three dimensional image is disclosed. The device includes a generally planar light transmitting surface having both a background image and an intermediate image formed thereon, the foreground image being in focus, the background scene or image being out of focus. A generally planar mirror has a foreground image located thereon and is maintained at an acute angle with respect to the light transmitting surface such that the light transmitting surface may be viewed by looking at the mirror along an axis which is within the acute angle. • Patent number: 4500088
Abstract: A display device comprising a light box, a light source contained therein and a light diffusing translucent cover for said light box is disclosed. A mirror is supported at an acute angle to the upper surface of the light box. A scene or other indicia at the upper surface of the light box is reflected in the mirror and another scene or other indicia are placed on the front of the mirror, whereby a composite view is seen from a position substantially in front of the light box consisting of the projected view reflected in the mirror and the view on or at the mirror surface. Preferably, the scene at the upper surface of the light box reflected in the mirror is a background of a composite view and the scene on or at the surface of the mirror is the foreground of the composite view.

  • Patent number: 4067129
Abstract: Display apparatus including a display surface containing advertising and/or other informative or decorative matter and having at least portions thereof slotted or transparent. Diffraction grating means are positioned to the rearward side of the display surface and means are provided for illuminating the diffraction grating in order to create a color spectrum effect which is projected through the aforesaid transparent openings or slots, creating a highly aesthetically-pleasing effect, the distribution of the colors being changed with changes in position of the viewer. The openings may preferably be in the form of symbol or a composite thereof. The opaque regions of the display surface may, in one preferred embodiment, be reflective.
