  • Publication number: 20240122712
Abstract: Apparatus, for use at a valve of a heart of a subject, includes a first catheter, a second catheter, and a translation element. The translation element is connected to, and operatively joins, the distal ends of the first catheter and the second catheter. The translation element is operable to translate the distal ends laterally with respect to each other to transition the apparatus between (i) a first state in which the distal ends are held next to each other for transluminal advancement to the heart, and (ii) a second state in which the distal ends are spaced apart from each other for positioning at a first location on the annulus and a second location on the annulus, respectively. The apparatus is configured to, while in the second state, from the distal ends, anchor a first tissue anchor at the first location, and a second tissue anchor at the second location.

  • Patent number: 10725006
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for monitoring air samples for the presence of the explosive TATP are disclosed. A preferred approach employs proton transfer reaction mass spectrometry PTR-MS). The system may be operated continuously on a real time or near real time basis. A delivery tube of specific dimensions and materials is employed to introduce the sample into the ionization chamber which in turn generates the ions which are delivered to the mass spectrometer for determining the m/z values. The system may employ a plurality of ionization chambers to reduce the amount of false negative identifiers. A multiple inlet ion funnel may be employed to combine the ions from each of the ionization chambers. Chemical ionization may be employed. A validation module may be employed to reduce the amount of false positive identifiers.

  • Patent number: 9291611
Abstract: A method for quantitative analysis of asbestos in vermiculite-containing materials includes a first embodiment which includes washing the sample with water or treating the sample with a low concentration acid to digest gypsum and carbonates, ashing the sample at a low temperature to remove cellulose, therefrom and analyzing the sample. Digestion may be effected before or after ashing. Subsequently, a second subsample may be ashed at low temperature to remove cellulose and refluxed with a concentrated acid followed by refluxing with a base and rinsing with deionized water to wash away gypsum, vermiculite and other soluble components. This is followed by analysis to determine asbestos concentration. In a further embodiment, the residue of the first embodiment may be employed as the second subsample.
