  • Patent number: 4168028
Abstract: A large box of sufficient size to carry a coat is cut and folded with the use of a conventionally sized standard die from a single piece of sheet-form material and has side panel structures formed by having an exterior side panel, an integral hinge, and an interior side panel with latching tabs to interlock with the bottom of the box. The exterior and interior side panels have a reduced total height due to the hinged side panels being formed with a bias cut so as to reduce the effective height of the panels to be less than the total height of the completed box while still providing closure integrity and structural stability.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 19, 1978
Date of Patent: September 18, 1979
    Assignee: Mack-Chicago Corporation
    Inventor: Richard J. McCall
  • Patent number: 4129247
Abstract: A sheet of corrugated material is die-cut and -scored into a one-piece blank formable into a closed carton having integral corner fillers which are formed and strategically located automatically upon erection of the walls of the box. The integral fillers are double-thickness corrugated material and cooperate with quadruple-thickness end walls to protect corners and end and side edges of carton contents such as books during mailing and handling.

  • Patent number: 4090608
Abstract: A mailing carton of the type having end air pockets is strengthened at each end by edges formed by multiple layers of corrugated material extending outwardly from the interior compartment, by reinforced layers of corrugated material forming an end wall inwardly from the reinforced edges, and by top and end covers. The top and end covers facilitate utilization of an "L" shaped sealing tool for sealing the end walls of the top panel by short reinforced adhesive tape segments disposed on surfaces in right angular relationship.

  • Patent number: 4090607
Abstract: A mailing carton of the type having end air pockets is strengthened at each end by edges formed by multiple layers of corrugated material extending outwardly from the interior compartment and also by reinforced layers of corrugated material forming an end wall inwardly from the reinforced edges. A recess formed in the center of each multiple layered top edge facilitates utilization of an "L" shaped sealing tool for sealing the end walls of the top panel by short reinforced adhesive tape segments disposed on surfaces in right angular relationship.

  • Patent number: 4006822
Abstract: A one-piece foldable corrugated mailer container has a one-piece blank which upon assembly into a box defines a pair of longitudinally spaced double-triangular side wall abutments and air pockets for bottoming and protecting the side edges of a weighty object such as a heavy book contained therein during shipment and for holding and locking the object in fixed position away from the side edges of the folder. A portion of the side wall abutment extends inwardly from each respective side to underlie the article or object contained thereby to assist in securing the blank into its double-triangular pocket configuration.
