  • Patent number: 10430530
Abstract: A method for generating a visual representation of wellbore drilling parameters includes representing a predetermined length of drilled wellbore as a two dimensional shape, wherein one dimension of the shape corresponds to the predetermined length and the other dimension of the shape corresponds to at least one of a drilling parameter, a statistical measure of a drilling parameter and an environmental parameter. In a computer, values of the at least one of a drilling parameter, a statistical measure of a drilling or environmental parameter and an environmental parameter are received as input. The two dimensional shape is plotted in a visual representation.

  • Publication number: 20120068712
Abstract: A resistivity tool is used with wired drill pipe and one or more wells. The resistivity tool has a transmitter, receiver modules located adjacent to the drill bit, and high sensitivity receiver modules located at greater distances from the drill bit relative to the receiver modules. The receiver modules and/or the high sensitivity receiver modules may also perform repeater functions for the wired drill pipe. The resistivity tool may provide information regarding a subsurface region of interest. The resistivity tool may be used in a system with sensors, and a distance between the sensors may be based on the type of measurement obtained by the sensors.

  • Patent number: 5555530
Abstract: A method for improving the signal to noise ratio from a pair of detectors such as geophones which each detect a noisy signal comprising a signal of interest (S) and a noise signal (N), wherein the signal of interest (S) has a different moveout across the pair of detectors from that of the noise signal (N), and the noise signal (N) from a given source is detected at the first detector at a time .DELTA.t before the corresponding noise signal is detected at the second detector, the method comprising delaying the noisy signal (S+N) detected at the first detector by an amount .tau. being greater than the moveout of the signal of interest but not more than .DELTA.t and subtracting the delayed signal from that detected at the second detector by means of an adaptive filter so as to minimize the power in the resultant signal. The signal detected at the first detection and optionally the resultant signal can also be delayed by an amount .tau..sub.

  • Patent number: 5377161
Abstract: During a drilling operation, the vibrational energy produced by a drill bit cutting through the earth excites a drill string and the energy near the top of the drill string is mounted by a transducer. A reflection coefficient series is derived from the transducer output such that each reflection coefficient corresponds to a drill string impedance discontinuity. One of the reflection coefficients is identified with a predetermined point of the drill string and energy travel time in the drill string is determined from the position of the one reflection coefficient in the series to the position in the series of a further coefficient.

  • Patent number: 3939323
Abstract: Helium and helium base gas mixtures such as helium-hydrogen; helium-oxygen and helium-carbon dioxide have been found to improve weld penetration when used with presently available lasers to weld most steels.
