    Abstract: Disclosed is a hermetic AC electric motor that includes harmonics shunting such that high frequency harmonics are shunted from the AC electric motor without the use of one or more high frequency filters in the associated motor drive. A related method of operating an AC electric motor includes shunting high frequency harmonics to a fluid passing through the AC electric motor. Also disclosed is a simplified variable speed motor drive system which eliminates the need for a filter for removing high frequency harmonics.

The pad has different ultrasonic characteristics than the cellular tissue to be scanned. The fabric covering includes an ultrasonic coupling agent and is used to hold the breast tissue in place. The fabric of the covering and the coupling agent transmit ultrasonic energy with minimal interference. The ultrasound probe is scanned over the tissue, and the one or more sensors are employed to determine the probe's location. The images representing the scanned tissue are displayed by a viewer which is capable of providing a rapid sequential display of the images.

The probe can be held in a single position as it is moved across the tissue, or it can be dynamically adjusted during the scan to provide optimal contact with the scanned tissue. The image data are captured and converted to a format that is easily stored and compatible with a viewer. The viewer allows playback of the scanned images in a manner that is optimized for screening for cancers and other anomalies. A location function allows the user to select a point of interest on an individual scan image, and choose another known reference point, and the function calculates and provides the distance from the reference point to the point of interest in three dimensions.

    Abstract: Apparatus for assembling covered buttons in which a first die assembly including a first punch carrying a first sleeve which sequentially receives a piece of covering material and the button shell with its flange extending toward the open end of the sleeve. A second assembly including a second sleeve having a bore one end of which is formed with a first cam surface extending axially inwardly of the above. The second sleeve is spring loaded to an extended position on a supporting post having a centrally located button back fastener receiving cavity in the end thereof with a second cam surface extending inwardly from the outer edge of the end to the bottom of a recess surrounding the cavity. An annular boss at the inner edge of the recess around the cavity is elevated to allow the material and the shell flange to curl inwardly under the button back. In the retracted position of the second sleeve on the post, the second cam surface forms a continuation of the first.

    Abstract: Fuse adapter terminals are provided for fuse holders of the type having a pair of spaced-apart spring clips which receive the ends of a cylindrical fuse. The basic adapter terminal comprises a substantially U-shaped member of electrically-conductive, resilient material which has two legs which are joined by an outwardly-curved central portion. Each leg has a first outwardly-curved lobe which is adjacent the central portion and which cooperates therewith to form an arcuate surface which is disposed in one of the fuse holder spring clips. Each leg also has a second outwardly-curved lobe which is adjacent the free end of the leg. The second lobes are oppositely disposed and cooperate with each other to receive one end of the fuse therebetween so that when a pair of the basic adapter terminals are utilized, each end of the fuse is mechanically supported by and electrically connected to the spring clip associated therewith.

    Abstract: An improved metal button assembly adapted to be attached to a fabric by an automatic sewing machine without producing a pucker in the fabric in which a stamped sheet metal shell is formed with thread-receiving holes and with a peripheral flange for retaining an unperforated plastic blank swaged into the shell, the blank being formed with a central area of reduced thickness which is pierced by the sewing needle in the course of attaching the button to the garment, the blank having an undersurface lying generally in the plane of the flange edge and being sufficiently rigid to avoid puckering of the fabric.
