  • Publication number: 20240165356
Abstract: The present invention relates to a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) facemask with a facemask-resident physiological monitoring system including at least one integrated physiological sensing unit with at least one physiological sensor. The face-mask may also comprise an integrated bone conduction communication system. In an embodiment, the physiological sensor comprises a contact temperature sensor to monitor body temperature of the user. In another embodiment, the physiological sensing sensor comprises photoplethysmographic sensor to monitor heart rate and respiration of the user. The present inventions also relates to a method of performing physiological monitoring of a user of an SCBA facemask and communicating sound to the user of the SCBA facemask.

  • Publication number: 20230384114
Abstract: A system includes a personal protective equipment (PPE) configured to be worn by an agent. The PPE includes a sensor assembly comprising a radar device configured to generate radar data, a microphone configured to capture speech input from the agent, and an inertial measurement device configured to generate inertial data. The system includes a computing device configured to: process sensor data from the sensor assembly, the sensor data including at least the radar data and the inertial data, to generate pose data of the agent based on the processed sensor data, the pose data including a location and an orientation of the agent as a function of time, to process the speech input to identify an item of interest in an environment in which the PPE is deployed, and to form mapping information for the environment with the item of interest being marked, based on the processed speech input.

  • Publication number: 20230325482
Abstract: Apparatuses and methods are disclosed for a wearable proximity detection system. In one embodiment, a wearable device configured to be worn by a wearer includes a first energy source configured to transmit energy; a sensor configured to detect energy from a proximate, second energy source of a compatible, second wearable device; and processing circuitry in communication with the first energy source and the sensor, the processing circuitry configured to use the energy detected by the sensor to determine a predetermined identifying characteristic associated to a second wearer of the second wearable device. In one embodiment, a method includes transmitting, via a first energy source, energy; detecting, via a sensor, energy from a proximate, second energy source of a compatible, second wearable device; and using, via processing circuitry, the energy detected by the sensor to determine a predetermined identifying characteristic associated to a second wearer of the second wearable device.

  • Publication number: 20230314544
Abstract: A tracker device for a first responder including a radio configured to receive a first radio signal from an emitter, and receive a second radio signal from an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The second radio signal includes at least one data packet including location information associated with the emitter. Processing circuitry in communication with the radio is configured to determine at least one location parameter associated with the emitter based on the first radio signal and the location information of the at least one data packet of the second radio signal.

  • Publication number: 20230298450
Abstract: A method for use with a personal protective equipment (PPE) article includes determining, via at least one sensor, a first parameter indicative of a concentration of at least one substance in an ambient environment of the PPE article. The method further includes determining, via a processor, a second parameter indicative of a second order derivative of the first parameter with respect to time. The method further includes retrieving, via the processor, a first threshold value indicative of a protection threshold provided by the PPE article for the at least one substance. The method further includes comparing, via the processor, the second parameter with the first threshold value. The method further includes generating, via the processor, an alert signal based on the comparison of the second parameter with the first threshold value. The method further includes providing, via a user interface, an alert to a user of the PPE article.
