An identity of a first player associated with generating the first side wager request may be determined. A first side wager session may be automatically initiated. In at least one embodiment, the placing of the first side wager includes placing first wager on a game play-related event or activity associated with the second person, wherein an outcome of the game play-related event or activity is influenced by a decision or action of the second person.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to a safeguard system on networked gaming devices. The safeguard system measures how much monetary value is output by a particular gaming device, in any form. If the gaming device has delivered an amount of value that is over a threshold amount, a warning is generated. The warning could be a visual or audio warning on a central controller, or could be an audio signal transmitted to floor personnel. Embodiments of the safeguard system include timers so that the performance of the gaming device can be independently measured over one or more time periods. The safeguard system is operable with gaming devices that accept and pay only physical currency, those that accept and pay in both physical currency and electronic methods, and those that only accept and pay by electronic methods. Some embodiments are able to remotely shut down the gaming device if the device is suspected of being cheated or malfunctioning.
