  • Publication number: 20100068545
Abstract: Provided is a composition and method for the preservation of wood. The composition comprises 1) an azole and/or quaternary ammonium compound component and 2) a pyrethroid compound component such that wood treated with the composition has a greater decay resistance than wood treated to the same azole retention with the azole alone. The method comprises the application of the composition to wood.

  • Patent number: 4622248
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and composition for preserving wood and other cellulose based materials against destructive organisms responsible for rot and decay, namely fungus and insects. The composition comprises an aqueous ammoniacal solution of a preservative metal compound and an organic acid selected from the group consisting of aliphatic dicarboxylic acids containing 2-10 carbon atoms per molecule, aliphatic mono, di or tricarboxylic hydroxy acids containing 2-6 carbon atoms per molecule or a mixture of these acids and/or their salts. The preservative composition may be applied by dipping, soaking, spraying, brushing or by any other well known means including vacuum and/or pressure applications.
