Abstract: A system may comprise a storage device on which counters are stored. A counter may be associated with an identifier. A computing node of the system may receive a request to modify the counter. In response to the request, a read signature may be stored and may comprise a hash of the identifier and a tolerance of the counter to change. A write signature may be stored in response to the request, and may comprise a hash of the identifier and a magnitude of the requested modification. A conflict may be detected by comparing a sum of the magnitudes of requested changes to the tolerance of the read operation.

Abstract: A journal manager of a multi-data-store storage system receives a transaction which includes a message to be stored in the storage system's journal if the transaction request is accepted for commit. The journal manager performs a conflict detection operation, accepts the transaction request, and stores a corresponding committed transaction entry including the message in the journal. A write applier associated with a registered materialization node of the journal reads the committed transaction entry and applies a write indicated in the entry. A registered message subscriber of the journal reads the committed transaction entry asynchronously with respect to the write applier, and reads the contents of the message without applying the write.

Abstract: A database table, such as may be implemented by a non-relational database, is provided to present information and states associated with that information as memorialized in a cryptographically secured ledger. The semantics of the database table elements, as well as the relationships between various objects therein, may be defined and/or enforced by a schema, a database engine, and/or an application layer. For example, the disclosed methods and systems may be used to implement an asset tracking tool that does not require trust of the implementing system for verification of the system's contents.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for portable network interfaces to manage authentication and license enforcement. A system may include a plurality of resource instances including a producer instance configured to implement a network-accessible service, and an authentication coordinator. The coordinator may assign an interface record to the service, wherein the interface record comprises an IP address and a set of security properties. The coordinator may configure the security properties to allow a client to request an attachment of the interface record to a selected resource instance, such that the selected resource instance is enabled to transmit network messages from the IP address using one or more physical network interfaces of the selected resource instance. The producer resource instance initiates authentication operations for the service, including at least one authentication operation based on the IP address of the interface record.

Abstract: Remote computing resource service providers allow customers to execute virtual computer systems in a virtual environment on hardware provided by the computing resource service provider. The hardware may be distributed between various geographic locations connected by a network. The distributed environment may increase latency of various operations of the virtual computer systems executed by the customer. To reduce latency of various operations predictive modeling is used to predict the occurrence of various operations and initiate the operations before they may occur, thereby reducing the amount of latency perceived by the customer.

Abstract: A jury candidate server (JCS) of a distributed state manager (DSM) implements a plurality of jury configuration evaluation iterations. In a particular iteration, the JCS generates one or more jury configuration options (JCOs) representing changes to a current jury, and assigns quality metrics to the JCOs based at least in part on a prioritized set of criteria among which location diversity has the highest priority. If a JCO meets a quality threshold, a corresponding jury transition is proposed for approval by the current jury.

Abstract: A system includes a plurality of computing nodes. Each computing nodes includes a processor and memory. The computing nodes include a plurality of instances and a template generator. The template generator is configured to receive a plurality of application programming interface (API) calls to the configure instances, detect a pattern in the received plurality of API calls, and generate a template based on the detected pattern, the template executable to configure an instance.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for capturing 3D model data including data relating to each of a plurality of voxels and relating to an object. A plurality of images of the object are captured. The plurality of images are correlated with the 3D model data to produce index data, the index data for indicating a correlation between some of the plurality of images and some of the plurality of voxels. The index data is then stored.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for profile-guided preloading for virtualized resources are described. A block-level storage volume whose contents are to be populated via data transfers from a repository service is programmatically attached to a compute instance. An indication of data transfers from the repository to a block storage service implementing the volume is obtained, corresponding to a particular phase of program execution at the compute instance. A storage profile is generated, based at least in part on the indication of data transfers. The storage profile is subsequently used to pre-load data from the repository service on behalf of other compute instances.

Abstract: At a logging service, a representation of a transaction requested by a client is received. The transaction includes at least a first write operation directed to a data object at a first data store. Based at least in part on the contents of the representation and contents of a persistent log of the logging service, a determination is made that the requested transaction is to be committed. A log record corresponding to the first write operation is inserted into the persistent log. The first write is propagated to the first data store after the record has been inserted in the persistent log.

Abstract: Users intending to launch instances or otherwise access virtual resources in a multi-tenant environment can specify a launch configuration. For each type of instance or each type of user, at least one launch configuration is created that includes parameters and values to be used in instantiating an instance of that type, the values being optimized for the current environment and type of instance. Launch configurations can be optimized for different types of users, such as to account for security credentials and access levels. Such an approach enables users to launch instances by contacting the resource provider directly without need for a proxy, which can function as a choke point under heavy load. The use of an appropriate launch configuration can be enforced for any type of user at any level, such as at the sub-net level, by modifying a request that does not specify an appropriate launch configuration.

Abstract: A plurality of virtual computing resources is detected to have been provisioned. Credentials are distributed to the plurality of virtual computing resources. A credentials map that maps the credentials to the plurality of virtual computing resources is updated. The credentials for the plurality of virtual computing resources are activated to enable the plurality of virtual computing resources to use the credentials to authenticate to a second computer system that manages a resource service, with the credentials being inaccessible to resources of the resource service. A virtual computing resource of the plurality of virtual computing resources is detected to been deprovisioned, and the credentials for the virtual computing resource are deactivated.

Abstract: Capability based placement can be used for placing virtual machine instances on server computers (which can be configured to support one or more virtual machine slots) that are capable of running the instances in an efficient manner. For example, capability tags can be determined from the detailed characteristics (e.g., detailed hardware, software, and/or other characteristics) of the server computer and/or slots. For example, capability tags can indicate capabilities such as disk throughput, network bandwidth, database support, encryption support, video editing support, etc. Requests to launch virtual machine instances can be received and capability tags can be determined from the requests. Servers and/or slots that match the determined capability tags can be identified and used for launching the instances.

Abstract: A repeater system for relaying wireless communications between a base station and one or more devices having: a repeater to relay network information from a base station to one or more devices; a donor antenna configured to receive and/or transmit network information between the repeater and the base station; a power supply external to the repeater; and, a server antenna integrated with the power supply, the server antenna configured to receive and/or transmit network information between the repeater and the one or more devices.

Abstract: Systems and methods for managing credentials distribute the credentials to subsets of a set of collectively managed computing resources. The collectively managed computing resources may include one or more virtual machine instances. The credentials distributed to the computing resources may be used by the computing resources to perform one or more actions. Actions may include performing one or more functions in connection with configuration, management, and/or operation of the one or more resources, and/or access of other computing resources. The ability to use credentials may be changed based at least in part on the occurrence of one or more events.

Abstract: A distributed execution environment provides instances of computing resources for customer use, such as instances of data processing resources, data storage resources, database resources, and networking resources. Data is collected from systems internal to and external to the distributed execution environment. Some or all of the data is utilized to compute instance availability information for instances of computing resources provided by the distributed execution environment. The instance availability information might then be provided to customers and other users of the distributed execution environment. Various types of actions might be taken in a manual or automated way based upon the computed instance availability information.

Abstract: Systems and methods for attesting to information about a computing resource involve electronically signed documents. For a computing resource, a document containing information about the resource is generated and electronically signed. The document may be provided to one or more entities as an attestation to at least some of the information contained in the document. Attestation to information in the document may be a prerequisite for performance of one or more actions that may be taken in connection with the computing resource.
