  • Patent number: 8079619
Abstract: An end fitting (200) for terminating an end of a hose comprising a tubular body of flexible material arranged between inner and outer helical wires, characterized in that the end fitting comprises: an inner member (202) adapted to be disposed at least partially within the hose; and a hose engaging member (208) adapted to press against the inner member 202 to retain the hose between itself and the inner member (202). The end fitting also includes a separate means for retaining one or more layers of the hose, the retaining means comprising an outer retaining member (232) adapted to press against an inner retaining member (230) to retain the or each layer of the hose between the outer and inner retaining members (232, 230) of the retaining means.

  • Publication number: 20110290411
Abstract: A system and method for fabricating reinforced tubular. In some embodiments, the fabrication system includes a plurality of iso-containers positioned at a site where a reinforced tubular is to be installed and equipment disposed within each of the plurality of iso-containers, the equipment operable to produce the reinforced tubular. The equipment includes a caterpullar operable to receive a tubular and push the tubular through the equipment downstream of the caterpullar and a winder operable to wrap the tubular with a reinforcing material to produce the reinforced tubular.

  • Publication number: 20110226764
Abstract: The invention concerns a mobile unit for the construction of an elongated tubular body comprising an elongated, tubular inner hollow core, an elongated, tubular inner casing and an elongated, tubular outer casing, the inner casing surrounding the hollow core, the outer casing surrounding the inner casing, the outer casing comprising one or more layers, each layer consisting of one or more helically wound metal strips, the inner casing and the outer casing as well as any layers in the outer casing being bound to each other by an adhesive, which elongated body has been made by a process comprising constructing the elongated inner casing, providing one or more metal strips, winding the one or more metal strips helically around the inner casing, providing adhesive or a curable adhesive precursor and applying it between the casings and the layers, followed by curing the adhesive precursor when present, the mobile unit comprising a multitude of detachably connected containers (1-11), each container comprising equip

  • Publication number: 20110188940
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for the construction of a long pipeline using a mobile pipeline producing unit, the mobile unit being able to produce specific lengths of the pipeline, each specific length being a fraction of the length of the long pipeline, the method comprising placing the mobile unit at a first position at the stretch of the projected long pipeline, producing a specific length of pipeline in one direction of the projected long pipeline, producing a second specific length of pipeline in the opposite direction, moving the mobile production unit to a second position at the stretch of the projected long pipeline, producing a third specific length of pipeline in a direction of the long pipeline, producing a fourth specific length of pipeline in the opposite direction, optionally moving the mobile production unit to a further position at the stretch of the projected long pipeline, producing a further specific length of pipeline in a direction of the projected long pipeline, producing another furt

  • Publication number: 20110174047
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for the manufacture of an elongated tube, the process comprising the following steps: (a) forming a rotating temporary tube (1), the tube having a first end at which the tube is continuously produced and a second end opposite to the first end, by continuously supplying a flat, elongated metal strip to a guiding body, which guiding body is forming a helix from the strip in such a way that consecutive windings of the helix do not overlap, and helically welding the consecutive windings of the helix formed by the guiding body to each other, (b) cutting cylinders from the second end of the rotating temporary tube (1); and (c) welding the cylinders obtained in step (b) to each other to form the elongated tube. The invention further relates to the use of the elongated tube in a process for the manufacture of an elongated, multilayered tubular body.

  • Patent number: 7735524
Abstract: A hose (10) comprising a tubular body (12) of flexible material arranged between an inner and an outer helically wound wire (22, 24). The hose (10) further comprises an elongate member having opposing longitudinal edges, the elongate member being helically wound around the tubular body such that the opposing longitudinal edges of the layer are in an adjacent or overlapping arrangement, wherein each longitudinal edge includes a formation capable of interengaging with a cooperating formation on the opposing longitudinal edge.
