  • Patent number: 11971056
Abstract: A head unit device for controlling motion of an object includes a chamber filled with a shear thickening fluid (STF) and a piston. The piston is housed within the chamber and exerts pressure against the STF from a force applied to the piston from the object. The STF is configured to have a decreasing viscosity in response to a first range of shear rates and an increasing viscosity in response to a second range of shear rates. The piston includes at least one piston bypass between opposite sides of the piston that controls flow of the STF between the opposite sides of the piston to selectively react with a shear threshold effect of the first range of shear rates or the second range of shear rates.

  • Publication number: 20240108844
Abstract: A humidification system can include a heater base, a humidification chamber, and a breathing circuit. A cartridge can be removably coupled to the heater base. The cartridge can include various sensors, probes, sensor wire connectors, heater wire connectors, and/or other features. The cartridge can include features configured to mate with corresponding features on the humidification chamber and the heater base. The cartridge includes a memory, such as an EEPROM, or other suitable storage device. When the cartridge is installed on the heater base, the memory is electrically connected to a processor and/or memory of the heater base. Various models of cartridges can be produced for use with different humidification chambers, breathing circuits, and/or therapies. A connector can be configured to couple an inspiratory conduit to an outlet port of the humidification chamber. The connector can provide a pneumatic connection to the outlet port and an electrical connection to the cartridge.

  • Patent number: 9799599
Abstract: There are disclosed impedance matching networks and technique for impedance matching to microwave power transistors. Distributed capacitor inductor networks are used so as to provide a high degree of control and accuracy, especially in terms of inductance values, in comparison to existing lumped capacitor arrangements. The use of bond wires is reduced, with inductance being provided primarily by microstrip transmission lines on the capacitors.

  • Publication number: 20150203137
Abstract: A cart for transporting a portable tank, such as a tank containing fluid and/or gas is disclosed. The cart enables transportation of large heavy tanks by a single user in a highly ergonomic manner. In an embodiment, the cart comprises a cart frame, wheels coupled to the cart frame, a tank-supporting cradle, a first actuator, a retainer, a control system and a power source. The cradle is movably secured with respect to the cart frame and movable by the first actuator between upright and inclined positions. The tank can be easily transported when the cradle is in the inclined position. The retainer captures the tank on the cradle. A second actuator may be provided to operate the retainer to capture the tank. The control system powered by the power source may operate all aspects of the cart including the first and second actuators.
