  • Patent number: 9485900
Abstract: A plug detection system for an agricultural implement with a ground-engaging tool may include a rotational speed sensor, a ground speed sensing system, and a controller. The rotational speed sensor may be configured to detect a rotational speed of the ground-engaging tool. The ground speed sensing system may be configured to detect a ground speed of the agricultural implement. The controller may be in communication with the rotational speed sensor and the ground speed sensing system and may be configured to determine a threshold rotational speed based on the ground speed and send an alert signal when the rotational speed is below the threshold rotational speed.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: November 8, 2016
    Assignee: DEERE & COMPANY

  • Patent number: 9072213
Abstract: A tube over tube joint for an implement frame includes a self-fixturing weldable connector positioned between upper and lower tubes. Standard fillet welds connect the tubes to the connector. A unitary casting can be used made from material selected to optimize load transfer between the top and bottom tubes to improve the fatigue life of the joint. The casting is self-fixturing so the top tubes can be located by simply placing in the casting on the lower tubes. A tube end connector provides fixturing and weld surfaces for butt joints in planar frames. Outwardly extended weld edges on the connector increase resistance to parallelogramming of the frame.

  • Patent number: 8267187
Abstract: A simplified spike tooth harrow includes an apertured bracket pivotally connected to the fore-and-aft connecting strap extending between the tine bars. The bracket adjustably supports a tine bar from the strap. A pin selectively secured in one of the apertures contacts the strap to set the working angle of the tines on the bar when the harrow is operated in the field. A chain or link connected to the bracket at a location offset from the bracket pivot suspends the harrow from an upper drawbar assembly which is movable vertically between field-working and transport positions. When the drawbar assembly is raised to the transport position so the harrow is out of ground contact, the bracket pivots so the pin is offset from the strap and can be easily and quickly removed from the aperture and reinserted in a different aperture to change the tine angle.

  • Publication number: 20110220375
Abstract: A disk gang assembly (10) includes a disk gang shaft (30) supported by a standard-mounted disk gang bearing assembly (20) having an inner race (20a) receiving a mounting portion (30m) of the disk gang shaft (30). A non-metallic anti-corrosive shaft liner (50) supported over the mounting portion (30m) between the inner race (20a) and the mounting portion (30m) protects the mounting portion from impacts and from seizure of the inner race (20a) and provides a tight fit between the shaft mounting portion (30m) and the inner race (20a) without need for close manufacturing tolerances. The shaft liner (50) aligns the bearing, spacers and washers relative to the shaft (30) and accommodates slight misalignments of the shaft (30), bearing inner race (20a) and any spacing components (34,36,37,38) between disk blades (32,32a,32b). A split (52) generally along an axis parallel to an axis of the disk gang (30a) shaft facilitates assembly of the liner (50) unto the shaft (30).

  • Patent number: 7465099
Abstract: A bearing block assembly includes a liner having a two piece ring of low friction material extending around the rockshaft and held in place by a bearing block. The rockshaft includes a radially projecting member interacting with the bearing block assembly to maintain the axial position of the rockshaft. The bearing liner includes a flange extending beyond the bearing block to contact the projecting member. The flange is seated in a groove at the side of the bearing block and lowers the coefficient of friction at the rockshaft/thrust surface interface.

  • Publication number: 20080110649
Abstract: Gauge or stabilizer wheels are located at the outer front portions of disk wing frames and are connected for operation with other disk wheels on the main and wing frames. The front stabilizer wheels bear much of the wing loading and allow the wing primary depth control wheels to be positioned further to the rear of the machine. The front stabilizer wheels can be hydraulically controlled for on-the-go forward depth control adjustments and provide frame support when the disk is in a field transport position.
