Abstract: A method and apparatus for invalidating entries within a translation control entry (TCE) cache are disclosed. A host bridge is coupled between a group of processors and a group of adaptors. The host bridge includes a TCE cache. The TCE cache contains the most-recently use copies of TCEs in a TCE table located in a system memory. In response to a modification to a TCE in the TCE table by one of the processors, a memory mapped input/output (MMIO) Store is sent to a TCE invalidate register to specify an address of the modified TCE. The data within the TCE invalidate register is then utilized to generate a command for invalidating an entry in the TCE cache containing an unmodified copy of the modified TCE in the TCE table. The command is subsequently sent to the host bridge to invalidate the entry in the TCE cache.

Abstract: An information processing system is provided which includes a plurality of system resources, and an event queue having a maximum number of entries. An event recording mechanism of the information processing system is operable to make entries regarding events in the event queue, wherein the entries are limited to a predetermined number of active entries in the event queue per each type of event per each of the system resources. In a particular embodiment, the number of entries per each type of event for each of the system resources is limited to one.

Abstract: An information processing system is provided which includes an interrupt table including a plurality of entries relating to interrupts requested by entries in a plurality of event queues. The entries of the interrupt table reference identifiers, and the identifiers are assigned to events from a pool of identifiers in accordance with an order in which the events occur.

Abstract: A reader for badges having rows of data representative holes therethrough, the reader including a row of data reading photo-sensitive devices or the like for sensing light passing through a row of the badge holes, a stationary encoder bar having two rows of holes therethrough and a carriage movable with the badge as it is moved across the row of data reading devices for reading the holes in the badge and carrying a pair of control photo-sensitive devices for sensing light passing through the holes of the encoder bar.
