  • Patent number: 6450555
Abstract: A latching mechanism (26) for an adjustable squeeze-off clamp (10) comprising a static jaw (16), a movable jaw (18) with an associated adjustment member (20) and an over-the-center operating linkage including an operating handle (23) and a link (24). The latching mechanism is selectively automatic whereby, when the lock mode is selected and the clamp is then closed, it automatically locks. The latch mechanism includes a spring (32) and a latch bar (28) with pivotal mounting (30) and notched end (36). In at least one embodiment, the latching mechanism includes an eccentric knob (42) for selection of the automatic locking mode.

  • Patent number: 4279108
Abstract: Each log is provided with a tongue on the upper surface and a rectilinear groove in the lower surface thereof. The edges of the tongue are beveled so that upon insertion into a rectilinear groove elongated expansion chambers will be defined to halt the propogation of drafts between the mating surfaces of adjacent log courses. A check groove is provided at the bottom of each groove in the bottom of the log for the purpose of releasing tension in the log as it dries while the top surfaces of the log are completely free of grooves to prevent any accumulation of moisture or dirt which would lead to early decay. The corner joints have a truncated triangular configuration with the tongue portion of one log extending into the tongue portion of the other log so that the actual joint is surrounded and protected from the weather by the raised tongues on the top of the logs.

  • Patent number: 4001634
Abstract: A high pressure sodium vapor lamp utilizing an alumina ceramic arc tube within an outer glass envelope is provided with a bi-metal switch which short circuits the arc tube at starting. Current flow through the switch causes it to heat up and open the short circuit, producing a voltage pulse which starts the lamp. The bi-metal is fastened to a pin conductor extending from the metal exhaust tube of the arc tube to the frame. The pin conductor, which receives heat by conduction from the exhaust tube and is also heated by lamp current flow, transmits sufficient heat to the bi-metal to maintain it deflected during normal operation.
