  • Patent number: 5827033
Abstract: Disclosed are adjustable size dies for use in case making systems. Also disclosed are methods of adjustment, alignment and of use of the adjustable size dies in case making systems which are especially well suited for use in the practice of book binding. Appropriate practice of the present invention provides a very user friendly approach to accommodating the binding of books of different sizes without the need to rebuild dies in standard book binding case making machines, as is presently the common practice.

  • Patent number: 5341717
Abstract: The present invention is an assembly/positioning system and method of use for application in the insertion or placement of tolerance dimensioned first process elements in tolerance dimensioned holes in or with respect to surfaces of second process elements. The system safely, precisely, repeatably and consistently compensates for tolerances in dimensions of process elements assembled therein, and for internal assembly/positioning system element tolerances which result from system stresses or temperature effects etc. during use. The assembly/positioning system also allows positioning process elements for processing and can include process element processing means internally. The assembly/positioning system utilizes mechanical or hydraulic toggle, insertion and tolerance compensation means in conjunction with mechanical transfer means to allow use with any combination of relatively large toleranced process elements.

  • Patent number: 5342194
Abstract: This disclosure is directed to a dental imaging matrix band for making a dental prosthetic restoration such as a 3/4 crown, full crown, or fixed bridge with the use of a CAD-CAM machine. This is attained by encircling a tooth or teeth prepared for receiving the prosthetic restoration by an imaging matrix band having an actual enlarged beaded peripheral edge or an illusion of an enlarged beaded portion which can be optically read by a scanner of a CAD-CAM machine. The optical image of the tooth or teeth encircled by such an imaging matrix band is transformed by the CAD-CAM machine into a signal which controls the operation of the forming or milling portion of the CAD-CAM machine to shape a block of dental material into the shape of a prosthetic restoration to be fitted to the prepared tooth or teeth in accordance with the optical image of the prepared tooth or teeth.

This is attained by encircling a tooth or teeth prepared for receiving a 3/4 crown, full crown or fixed bridge restoration by a matrix band having an enlarged beaded peripheral edge or lip which can be optically read by a scanner of a CAD-CAM machine. The optical image of the tooth or teeth and the encircling matrix band is transformed by the CAD-CAM machine into a signal which controls the operation of the forming or milling portion of the CAD-CAM machine to shape a block of dental material into the shape of a 3/4 crown, full crown or fixed bridge to be fitted to the prepared tooth or teeth in accordance with the optical image of the prepared tooth or teeth.

  • Patent number: 4997207
Abstract: A notebook cover restraining system and method of use is disclosed. The system provides that a short extension be attached to a notebook cover by means which have a natural tendency to assume a flat shape. The system also provides that complimentary hook structures be placed on the edge of the short extension, and on the edge of the notebook cover which does not have the short extension attached thereto. In the preferred embodiment both hook structure equipped edges are distal to the notebook back binder. In use one can very easily cause the short extension to rotate around the attachment point locus between the short extension and the notebook cover to which it is attached, to a position at which the hook structures can be caused to mesh and secure the notebook in a closed position with the top and bottom covers oriented parallel with respect to one another.

  • Patent number: 4979706
Abstract: A bag restraining system, and method of its use is diclosed. The bag restraining system, in its preferred embodiment, provides a device that can be easily attached to existing two wheel transport units while providing a vast range of vertical and horizontal adjustment necessary to effectively restrain and accommodate bages of various lengths and/or diamters. The system provides for the quick and easy removal of the protruding elements, on which bags are restrained, from the two wheel transport unit to allow immediate use of the two wheel transport unit in a material transport capacity when desired. The system incorporates automatic gripping, force controlling and distributing compressible material elements which, either alone or in conjunction with forces developed by rotating members, control and distribute the restraining forces exerted on a restrained bag. The system also provides for quick and easy bag release.
