Abstract: A method for satellite communications network resiliency comprising, at a satellite service provider computing system: identifying a set of lost links between user terminals of a satellite communications network, wherein the lost links are due to a loss of at least one beam of the satellite communications network; determining a repointing of at least one user terminal to restore at least a portion of the lost links by using one or more optimization algorithms to determine a set of one or more user terminal repointings that maximize a reward based on the set of lost links and a network graph and a beam graph associated with the satellite communications network; and instructing repointing of the at least one user terminal.

Abstract: The invention provides a communications network utilizing a multi-beam input/multi-beam output fixed-sized data packet switch with configurable output packet buffering located in a satellite. The satellite communications network system according to the invention handles fixed size data packets and includes ground based stations (terminals) for transmitting an up-link communication signal representing the fixed sized data packets and for receiving a control signal, a satellite for receiving the up link communication signals from the ground based stations and for transmitting down-link communication signals, and a ground control station for transmitting and receiving control signals to the satellite, whereby the satellite receives and transmits the control signals to the ground based stations.

Abstract: The invention provides for the transmission IP data over an ATM switch architecture in a communications network. The invention provides for a distributed communication system that includes a user terminal for generating and processing user data in a connectionless format, a relay node communicatively connected to the user terminal, the relay node supporting a connection-oriented operation functionality and a gateway communicatively connected to the relay node for managing the interface between the user terminal and the relay node.
