  • Patent number: 5992538
Abstract: A portable impact tool driver is removably attachable to a drive spindle or shaft of a conventional power tool. The impact tool driver has a body member with a drive shaft configured with the body member so as to be rotationally driven thereby. A hammer member is rotationally coupled to the drive shaft and is rotationally driven by the drive shaft. The hammer member is also axially movable along the drive shaft. The hammer has a first impact face configured thereon with at least two impact drivers defined on the impact face. A coupling drive mechanism is disposed between the drive shaft and the hammer member and imparts a rotational and longitudinal movement to the hammer member. An anvil member has a second impact face opposite the first impact face with an impact receiver configured thereon for periodic impacting engagement with the impacted drivers.

  • Patent number: 5921563
Abstract: A quick release chuck device includes a body member having a frusto-conical chamber defined therein for receipt of a conventional collet. A plurality of weighted cam members are disposed around the circumference of the body member and include a first end which is pivotally mounted to the body member. The cam members have a center of gravity longitudinally spaced from the pivot point wherein upon rotation of the body member in an operational mode, the cam members are caused to pivot relative to the body member and swing radially outward from the body member. A collet engaging member is disposed at a first end of the cam members and is configured to engage and move the collet into the frusto-conical chamber as the cam members swing radially outward.

  • Patent number: 5908076
Abstract: An impact tool driver is provided and configured for removable attachment to a drive spindle of a power tool, for example a conventional drill. A body member is removably attached to the drive spindle and includes a first impact member containing a number of radially spaced impact lugs defined thereon. Second impact member includes a number of radially spaced impact lugs in engaging and opposing contact with the impact lugs defined on the first impact member. A drive member is connected to the second impact member and is rotational mounted on the body member. The drive member includes a device for connecting a tool or working device thereto. Rotational drive of the body member and the first impact member is imparted to the second impact member and drive member through rotational impacting engagement of the impact lugs.

  • Patent number: 5704616
Abstract: A chuck for use with a manual or powered driver having a rotatable drive shaft including a primary tightening mechanism utilizing a three-jaw assembly actuated by a nut or tightening ring and a supplemental tightening mechanism. The supplemental tightening mechanism includes a camming portion defining a tightening cam profile. The supplemental tightening mechanism further includes a plurality of lever bars, one end of each of the lever bars forming a cam follower and the other end of each of the lever bars operatively associated with the nut so that when the supplemental tightening mechanism is actuated in a tightening direction, the lever bars will force the nut forward to produce an enhanced tightening force on the tool through the jaws. The supplemental tightening mechanism is configured to allow drive through release.
