  • Patent number: 11522361
Abstract: Embodiments of a single event latch-up (SEL) protection circuit are provided, including: a first circuitry block coupled to a source of an input voltage a load, and digitally controlling a first switch; the first switch generates a load and senses an instantaneous load current iLoad. A second circuitry block is configured to generate an average iLoad and generate single event latch-up triggers (i.e., SEL fault detection) as a function of at least a comparison of the inst_iLoad and average iLoad; wherein this first circuitry block contains the analog based SET filtering needed to reduce false SEL triggers. A supervisor module generates on/off commands for the first switch, responsive to receiving the SEL detection in excess of a pre-programmed delay to provide the final SET filtering to prevent false SEL triggers. The first circuitry block removes the load voltage at N1 upon receiving an off command from the supervisor module.

  • Patent number: 5904958
Abstract: An apparatus for depositing a coating material, such as an organic monomer, in vapor form onto a substrate including a heated evaporation chamber having an inlet for introduction of the coating material into the chamber and a nozzle having an adjustable opening for adjusting cross direction coating uniformity. The nozzle may include a plurality of adjustment bolts spaced along the width of the nozzle for adjusting the opening of the nozzle. The adjustment bolts may be alternating push and pull adjustment bolts. Alternatively, the adjustable bolts are bolts having compound threads such that each bolt is capable of both pulling and pushing the adjustable opening of the nozzle. The substrate is preferably a moving web that defines the outer surface of a cooled drum. The apparatus further includes a radiation source positioned adjacent to the substrate for curing an organic monomer coating on said substrate. The radiation source may be an electron beam gun or an ultraviolet lamp.

  • Patent number: 5490380
Abstract: A combustion chamber 42 for an axial flow rotary machine 10 is disclosed. Various construction details are developed for controlling the production of emissions such as carbon monoxide, unburnt hydrocarbons and oxides of nitrogen. In one embodiment, the combustion chamber has a pilot zone 108 which extends axially and a main zone 106 axially adjacent to the pilot zone which has a divergent outer wall having a divergent end region 178 through which locally swirling gases are injected into swirling gases from the pilot zone 108.

  • Patent number: 5402634
Abstract: A fuel supply system for a gas turbine engine having a multi-stage combustor provides responsiveness by blocking the drainage of fuel within the fuel lines during pilot only operation. In a particular embodiment, the fuel supply system includes a fuel source, a flow splitter valve, a main flow divider valve interconnected with a plurality of main fuel injectors, a pilot flow divider valve interconnected with a plurality of fuel injectors, and check valves disposed in the fuel lines connecting the main flow divider and the main fuel injectors. The check valves block the flow of fuel to the plurality of main fuel injectors during pilot only operation. A method of operating the fuel supply system includes built in hysteresis. The method includes the steps of switching from pilot to staged at a first thrust level TL.sub.1, and switching from staged to pilot at a second thrust level TL.sub.2 <TL.sub.1.

  • Patent number: 4271674
Abstract: A combustor assembly having improved performance at low engine power operation and at altitude relight includes an annular combustion chamber, two fuel sources, and a premixing passageway having an outlet positioned adjacent either the inner and outer annular well of the combustion chamber. A perforated baffle is disposed across the outlet of the premixing passageway, the outlet being in gas communication with the combustion zone. In a preferred embodiment, for low power operation, such as for idle or for altitude relight, fuel from a first source is sprayed directly into the combustion zone. During this low power operation a localized stagnation region is created adjacent the fuel source which acts as a continuous ignition source for the combusting fuel-air mixture within the combustion zone. For high power operation such as takeoff, climb and cruise, fuel from a second source is injected into the premixing passageway where it is atomized by air entering the passageway from the compressor.
