  • Patent number: 5683155
Abstract: An apparatus for moving laterally accessible file storage or similar shelving units, from a stowed densely packed lateral array of such units, longitudinally to a full access position. The apparatus includes a wheeled carriage which travels over a flat supporting track laid in the path of the carriage as the unit is rolled longitudinally. The flexible track has a leveling feature which can accommodate uneven or varying level base floor surfaces. The flexible track is picked up by return movement of the carriage, leaving no exposed portion of the apparatus when the unit is stowed.

  • Patent number: 4066110
Abstract: A wedge is mounted on one end of an elongated beam, and a hydraulic ram having a reaction member at one end and an extensible impact member at its opposite end is mounted on the other end of the beam with the impact member facing the wedge. When the impact member is extended, it pushes the end of a log against the wedge to split the log. Longitudinally spaced alternate abutment members, rigid with the beam, enable the ram to be locked in position for multiple strokes to double or otherwise increase the overall effective stroke of the ram without increasing its length. Cooperating latching means on the beam and impact member latch the impact member to the beam in its extended position and permit the ram cylinder to be moved from one set of abutment members to another when fluid pressure in the ram is reversed.
