  • Patent number: 8941955
Abstract: An example method of detecting a generator overvoltage condition includes predicting a primary control current to provide a predicted control current, monitoring the primary control current, and detecting a generator overvoltage condition based on a comparison of the predicted control current to the primary control current. The method interrupts the primary control current based on the comparing.

Date of Patent: January 27, 2015
    Assignee: Hamilton Sundstrand Corporation
Inventors: Carl A. Wagner, John F. Defenbaugh, Vijay K. Maddali, Richard L. Young

  • Patent number: 5569208
Abstract: A system for managing delivery of contrast media from a contrast media source to a patient. The system includes a chamber for receiving fluid from the contrast media source in a controlled manner. Attached at one end of the chamber is an inlet line and, at the opposite end, an outlet line. Disposed in the outlet line is a valve. The valve provides a first position which permits the flow of contrast media through the line. The valve further provides a second position which permits flow of fluid from the point of the valve toward the patient, while at the same time venting the system at the point of the valve.

  • Patent number: 5483999
Abstract: A waste collection system for receiving contaminated fluids in a manner which helps to prevent splashing of fluids or spilling them while they are being collected, thereby increasing protection to personnel, and which also keeps the fluids safely contained until ready for permanent disposal. In one presently preferred embodiment, the waste collection system includes a receptacle in which an absorbent pad is placed. The top of the receptacle is then sealed with a lid in an essentially fluid-tight fit. The surface of the lid is concave and slopes inwardly to a point at which an opening is formed, and a circular foam disc is placed at the opening. The foam material is provided with slits so that fluid can be introduced to the interior of the receptacle by either injecting a device such as a syringe through the slits or by permitting fluid to directly contact the foam material of the disc, which provides absorption and wicking action so that fluids will readily pass through the disc.

  • Patent number: 5248127
Abstract: A board press (10) comprises a dog member (12) dimensioned and configured to grip a joist (14a) and a lever (16) attached to one end to the dog member (12) by a ball and socket mounting (18) for pivoting of lever (16) about a pivot axis P--P. The ball and socket mounting (18) enables the pivot axis to be angularly displaced about a point on pivot axis P--P, thereby permitting the user to pivot the lever (16) perpendicularly to the edge (27) of a board (26a) being pressed despite twisting of the dog member (12) on the joist (14a) during use. A method of pressing one or more boards disposed on a joist includes using the board press and pivoting the lever in a pivot plane which is kept perpendicular to the edge of the board while simultaneously twisting the dog member to seat it upon the joist.

  • Patent number: 4336936
Abstract: A portable game surface for playing a pool-like game is created by apparatus including a sheet of flexible material for forming the game surface, a plurality of discrete structural elements capable of being mounted to the flexible material to define the boundaries of the game surface and to form bumper rails for movable objects, first elements for connecting the structural elements lengthwise to the flexible material such that the flexible material will cover the surface portion of the bumper rails which will be engaged by movable objects, second elements releasably and rigidly connecting adjacent ends of the structural elements to form the boundaries of the game surface and to maintain the game surface in taut playable form, pocket elements formed at locations where the bumper rails are connected by the second elements, the structural elements are capable of being disconnected from each other and from the sheet of flexible material so that the game surface can easily be dismantled.
