  • Publication number: 20060201318
Abstract: A ballistic projectile resistant barrier apparatus combines the advantages provided by both high hardness material barriers and multiple laminate layer barriers. An outer tier of the barrier is comprised of a plurality of interconnected hard tiles. Each of the tiles has an outer, front surface designed that, upon impact by a ballistic projectile, the projectile is immediately deflected from its initial path. Subsequent tiers of the barrier are comprised of layers of a flexible material interspersed with layers of a ballistic liquid or at least one layer of ballistic fiber. When tiles are impacted by a projectile, the impacted tile is pushed into the laminate layers of the barrier, thereby substantially multiplying the area of the barrier that resists the impact force of the projectile as the projectile enters the barrier.

  • Publication number: 20050224287
Abstract: A support structure for supporting workers from an I-beam comprises a ladder and a platform that are pivotally attached to each other. The pivoting nature of the support structure allows the geometry of the support structure to be interlocked with the geometry of the I-beam in a manner rigidly attaching the support structure to the I-beam. When attached to the I-beam, the platform preferably extends horizontally in a cantilevered manner to provide a surface upon which a worker can stand. The ladder assists the worker in accessing the platform.

  • Publication number: 20050211502
Abstract: A ladder assembly is specifically configured to be attached to an upright tailgate of a vehicle in a manner facilitating the ingress and egress of personnel into and out of such a vehicle while the tailgate remains in its upright position. The ladder assembly preferably comprises an attachment portion having a pair of clamps that allow the ladder assembly to be firmly attached to tailgates of differing thickness. The ladder assembly also preferably comprises a ladder portion that can be both folded and selectively inclined.

  • Publication number: 20030188931
Abstract: A wheel and brake system is provided for a vehicle having a wheel with an inner wheel, an outer wheel generally concentric with the inner wheel, and a plurality of resilient members connecting the inner and outer wheels together for resilient movement therebetween. The wheel and brake system comprises a brake mechanism having a rotor and a caliper. The rotor rotates with the inner wheel and the caliper is rotationally fixed in position relative to the resilient wheel. An actuation system causes first and second rotor-engaging surfaces of the caliper to move toward one another to squeeze the rotor therebetween and to thereby resist rotation of the inner wheel.

  • Patent number: 6578206
Abstract: A portable waste collection device comprises a first container and an adjacent second container. The first container has an interior volume adapted to receive and contain waste. The second container has an interior volume adapted to contain a flushing solution. The second container has a discharge port adapted to permit flushing solution contained in the second container to be discharged from the second container into the first container. The second container comprises a pump for pumping a desired amount of the flushing solution from the second container into the first container.

  • Patent number: 6505708
Abstract: A ladder mounting mechanism is configured for mounting a ladder to a truck trailer. The truck trailer has at least one keeper member fixedly connected thereto. The ladder mounting mechanism includes a frame at least one moveable locking member moveably connected to the frame. The frame is adapted to be fixedly connected to the ladder. The moveable locking member is adapted for movement relative to the frame between a ladder-secured position and a ladder-unsecured position. In the ladder-secured position, the locking member engages the keeper member in a manner for securing the ladder to the truck trailer. In the ladder-unsecured position, the locking member is disengaged from the keeper member.
