  • Patent number: 7640463
Abstract: In a high-speed serial link, an eye finder diagnostic circuit has improved performance by being on-chip with the existing capture latch(es) of a receive equalizer. The eye finder circuit employs an additional capture latch with its input tied to the same input node as the existing capture latch(es) of a receive equalizer. The additional capture latch has a clock input and reference voltage input. The clock input is adjusted through a phase interpolator (or variable delay line) while the reference voltage input is adjusted by a voltage generator. A digital post processing circuit then compares the output of the additional capture latch with the output of the other existing capture latch(es), in order to determine the receive eye opening. The horizontal eye opening is measured by changing the phase of the additional capture latch through the phase interpolator, while the vertical eye opening is measured by changing the reference voltage of the voltage generator of the additional capture latch.

  • Patent number: 6599244
Abstract: A system and a method of manipulating system parameters directly from displayed graphics utilize universal controls whose functions can vary depending on the current position of a cursor on a display device of the system. The system may be an imaging system based on ultrasound, magnetic resonance, computed tomography technology, or other modalities. The universal controls allow the number of controls included in the control panel of the system to be significantly reduced, since each universal control can perform functions of multiple hard controls. The universal controls may be pushbutton rotatable dials or rotatable toggles. In operation, when the cursor is positioned over one of the cursor-sensitive target areas, a control assignor of the system designates functions that correspond to that cursor-sensitive target area to the universal controls. The system also includes a display controller that controls the operations of displayed cursor-sensitive graphic elements.

  • Patent number: 4702439
Abstract: The front end of a conical forward carbon-carbon heatshield is attached to arbon-carbon nose tip by a threaded connection. The nose tip provides rigid structural support for the small end of the heatshield at all conditions of thermal expansion. The joint between the aft end of the forward heatshield and the forward end of an aft carbon-phenolic heatshield includes a tolerance gap which is tapered to accommodate the vector movement of the carbon-carbon heatshield due to axial and circumferential thermal expansion. The gap is filled with a high temperature insulating washer of frangible material which is crushed by the axial expansion of the forward heatshield and evacuated by the slip-stream. The forward heatshield is supported at the joint by a segmented ring of high density carbon wedges that will expand during flight and move with the heatshield along an expansion ramp to provide continuous support.
