  • Publication number: 20230143960
Abstract: A cartridge can comprise a first elastomeric membrane and a second elastomeric membrane, and portions of the elastomeric membranes which are sealed to each other can circumscribe unsealed portions of the membranes. In a resting state, the unsealed portion of the first elastomeric membrane abuts or is proximate to the unsealed portion of the second elastomeric membrane. One or more reagents can be injected between the unsealed portions of the first and second elastomeric membranes to push the unsealed portions apart from each other in this region of the membranes. The unsealed portions can be sequentially pushed apart in downstream regions to form a channel between the elastomeric membranes. Positively displaced fluid pushes the unsealed membrane portions apart to a volume that conforms to the volume of the fluid to minimize or prevent dead volume in the channel and thus minimize or prevent air bubbles in the fluid.

  • Patent number: 10093965
Abstract: A system for preparing and analyzing a sample of biological material, including a test cartridge having a first housing defining a flow-through chamber, a second housing defining a central space within which the first housing is at least partially located. The first housing is rotatable relative to the second housing, and the second housing defines a plurality of circumferentially spaced chambers, one of the chambers having an inlet for receiving a sample, at least one of the chambers containing a liquid reagent, and at least one of the chambers comprising an analysis module, the chambers of the second housing each having an opening into the central space. The first housing has one or more openings into the central space so that openings can be selectively aligned with one of the openings into the chambers of the second housing by relative rotation of the first housing and second housings.

  • Publication number: 20130296807
Abstract: A device for automatically delivering a drug to a user and method thereof are disclosed. The device (10, 20, 70, 110) provides a connector to which a vial (12, 50, 60, 100, 130, 202) containing the drug is removably connected and situated thereto in a substantially inverted position. When commanded by the user, the device (10, 20, 70, 110) starts a reconstitution process to automatically create a reconstituted drug, and provides an indication that the reconstitution process is complete such that the vial (12, 50, 60, 100, 130, 202) may be removed from the connector (22, 72,112). After disposing the device (10, 20, 70, 110) on the user, the device (10, 20, 70, 110) can automatically deliver the reconstituted drug to the user when further commanded by the user.
