Richard Lyle Shown has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Publication number: 20160036379
Abstract: A hybrid photovoltaic and solar thermal system for generating electrical energy and providing heated water for storage or immediate use. The system includes photovoltaic solar panels, each attached to base with an open top, a bottom, and sides. A base cover is connected to the base sides to define a fluid reservoir. A fluid inlet disposed in each side of the bases provide water to the reservoir from a water supply. A fluid outlet disposed in the sides of each base discharges heated water from the reservoirs through a discharge pipe connected to hot water storage tanks.

  • Publication number: 20160001196
Abstract: A system for separating gases from solids and fluids, including a containment chamber having an upper chamber portion, a lower chamber portion disposed immediately below said upper chamber portion, and a heat exchange partition disposed between and separating said upper chamber portion from said lower chamber portion; means for conveying the feedstock into the upper chamber and for conveying the gas-containing solids and/or liquids from the upper chamber; a heat source in fluid communication with said lower chamber portion for circulating heated fluid through said lower chamber portion to and from said heat source; and a gas removal and storage apparatus to remove gases separated from the feedstock in said upper chamber portion and to then store such gases in a gas storage tank.

  • Patent number: 8881525
Abstract: An electrical energy and thermal energy generation system that includes an electrical generator including a motor driving a rotor within a stator enclosed in an inner tube; a heat generating unit disposed around said inner tube enclosing said electrical generator, said heat generating unit enclosed within an outer container having walls spaced apart from said inner tube so as to define a volume through which heat exchange fluid is circulated and having a water inlet and a water outlet; an electric power supply providing power to said motor; a water supply providing unheated water to said heat generating unit through said water inlet; and a return water line through which heated water exits said water outlet for transport to a destination for use.

A fluid outlet disposed in the sides of each base discharges heated water from the reservoirs through a discharge pipe connected to hot water storage tanks. Electrically controlled valves on the inlet and outlets are under the control of a controller coupled to temperature sensors in the reservoirs, such that water is released from the reservoirs and replenished to the reservoirs only after water contained in the reservoirs reaches a predetermined temperature.
